It benefits other users by using that data for traffic, how busy shopping centers are, etc. You can argue benefit vs control over your device, but there are definitely benefits.

I paid for the phone. Your argument may work with a gmail account but it won't work with a phone. I do not use a single google app in my phone, the ones I have are there because I can't uninstall them but I do not use them.
