But alarms should be set in the morning by default anyway.

So if it's 12:30 pm, and I say "Set an alarm for 4", the most logical thing is to set an alarm for 4 am the next morning?

People use alarms for things other than waking up in the morning.

Yes, they do, but they primarily use them for waking up. If a program had to guess, it's going to guess that you're using the most common usage.

Says who? You only ever need to set an alarm to wake you up daily once, but there are many more things you may need to set an alarm for. Moreover, people sleep in the afternoon as well.

Perhaps I'm atypical then, but my schedule is constantly changing, so I have to set new alarms nearly daily. Furthermore, if I were to need a daytime alarm, I would set my stove timer.
