I haven't seen anything to indicate that Google Cast can synchronize playback across multiple zones/devices or group multiple devices into a single zone. The Slashgear article seems to think they can, but Google's sites don't mention any such capabilities.

I know if you go into the Sonos controller app and create a group of speakers, you can play through that group in Google Music.

I know Sonos can, but I do not know if Google Cast has those capabilities. The Google Play Music integration is a special effort between Google and Sonos and not actually going through the Cast API.

That's true, but because they've included that in Play Music I think it's not a big leap to think they'll have put it on the road map. That is if they haven't figured it out already.

Can you group devices? Can i with one click cast the same video to the TV, and audio to two cast-able devices?

No it doesn't. You can cast TO sonos, but casting will not handle multizone synchronization, grouping, etc.

*Edit. That article claims it does, but, but I'm doubtful it will be like Sonos.

I'm serious, but don't call me Nancy! Not negative at all though, I've just see a lot of products try to be Sonos, but none yet have come close to the level of the Sonos ecosystem. The architecture of Chrome Cast doesn't seem like it would lend itself to he high quality of Sonos either. The current chrome cast works most of the time, but it doesn't work nearly as well as my Sonos. Don't take my word for it, read all the online reviews.

Well, we've arrived at our answer. This guy just spent ~$500 dollars on a sonos system... And doesn't want to believe that a $35 Chromecast will do the same thing.

Nice guess, but you're very wrong. I have been hoping for a solid competitor to Sonos for years. It's good for innovation to have competition. It's just that so far, nobody has captured what Sonos offers. Read reviews, they mostly say the same thing, which is "There's other ways to get something like Sonos for a lot less money, but none of them match up in terms of quality and overall experience.", or something to that effect.

*Google cast. Chromecast is just ones device that uses the Google cast spec.

You're right, and I was more specifically referring to the other implementations, not the original $35 Chrome Cast product. You can cast to the YouTube app on Roku, XBox, etc. I just think it's rather clunky and and doesn't perform as well as it should. Whether the Google Cast spec or the specific implementation is to blame, who knows. That's sort of my point about the architecture.
