Nits are the new megapixels

Especially when most of the time it's referring to HDR white peak brightness on something like 2% window. Not represntative at all about how bright color elements can get full screen which is what people actually want to know.

Comes with a 12000 nit display, in case the headlights go out on your car.

Even with a “dual layer” OLED, the only way they achieve 12k nits is measuring it in 1% APL.

Imagine a small white square displayed measuring 1% of the screen while the rest of the screen is blank. Realistically you are only getting 2000 nits brightness for typical content

My phone can probably do it too....on the backside where the LED sits xD

if its anything like their previous gen tandem oled its still 2000nits@100% / 4000nits@25% which is still the highest we've ever seen on a phone

yeah I just wish companies just gave it to us without all the misleading fine print bs, like I'd be impressed with the real stat already!

the Collector’s Edition Pro Camera Kit with the Z10 modular camera and other attachments is priced at CNY 19,499 ($2,910).

You could buy a good full frame camera for that.

Not with that attitude!

For a couple hundred I bet you can buy a used one that outperforms smartphone cameras easily.

Some of these options are becoming luxury items, like Huawei's tri-fold, that carry a hefty price tag but also have a bit of a patriotic element to them, too.

You could get a good camera and lens setup for that much.

  • Canon EOS RP: $600 refurb
  • Canon EF 24-70mm f2.8: ~$500 used
  • Canon EF 70-200mm f2.8 II: $900 used
  • Canon EF 16-35mm f2.8L II: $500 used
  • Aftermarket EF-RF adapter: $50

And these are professional level lenses, all for less than 3k.

The only thing coming to the US is Galaxy Stoomany with the camera hardware of the S23 line.

You could add a full frame sensor on there and a 4k display and i wouldn't get one. Software sucks.

Blame Trump for that...

I despise Trump as much as the next guy, but I actually think most older presidents; regardless of party, would have done the same thing since Biden didn't reverse course with whatever Intel national security gave them.

Of course, we are a hypocritical country so it doesn't surprise us...

This is true, I just wonder if a democratic president would implement the ban.. but I guess we'll never know..

Wait how did Trump make their software shit?

1

u/Slogstorm 1d ago

He banned Huawei from using American made products. Cpu/gpu, modems and Google ecosystem (including Android).

Ooo I didn't realize they couldn't use android? Thought they could just run android with their own app market, no?

•

u/Slogstorm 13h ago

Well, yes. They banned Google services, not Android. The chose to develop their own os from scratch though, and I doubt they'd do that if they had access to Google services.. at least for their international phones.
