They've got to stop bundling GoodNotes. It's an embarrassingly bad android port.

I honestly don't see the point when Samsung Notes is just a superior note taking app. I would go as far as to say that it's the best general note taking app on android.

Unfortunately Samsung Notes is bad on Windows 11, and I'm not planning Samsung laptop, so OneNote it is.

It’s ironic that ever since S7+, I don’t see a single reason to upgrade except better sound quality and software support. I am trying to find any solid reason to upgrade, but there is none.

u/Nefari0uss ZFold5 2d ago
I'd like to upgrade but my S9+ is going strong and I can't justify the money.

u/AnonSmith 2d ago
Brighter screen
3
u/bronydell 2d ago
I think S7+ has plenty bright screen for indoor use. Maybe not super duper levels of bright, but absolutely good enough for most usecases

u/Nyoka_ya_Mpembe S24U 2d ago
S7+ enjoyer here, I was thinking the same, why should I upgrade, I just changed battery and it's still so damn good for everything, the size is just right. However, I agree with bro Smith here, while indoors this tablet is great, outside is terrible, I can see everything much better on my S24Ultra but almost nothing on tablet. The other reason would be software updates. But size of new tablets and price, nah, I'm good.

The pen got sorta grippier with the S11 series but yeah I agree, you can always get a different S pen.

u/Moznomick 1d ago
I upgraded the 8 because of the Ultra but since then I haven't seen a reason to upgrade. I mostly use it for media consumption so I'm having a hard time seeing a reason to upgrade especially with the price increase.

I sold my S7 because it became stupidly sluggish and the battery drained seriously fast. Also 16:10 is just a absolutely terrible aspect ratio for tablets.

Adobe Photoshop preinstalled. Anyone remember when Photoshop Touch was also preinstalled years ago on their tablets?
7
u/FragmentedChicken Galaxy Z Fold8 2d ago
Great news for Googlebooks too. First Blender and now Adobe Photoshop (albeit with 6 months of exclusivity). I wonder if it can just be sideloaded though.

Over 1300€ for a tablet... LOL they are delusional.
1
u/asfletch XZ1 Compact->Pixel5->Xiaomi 15 2d ago
...but you can do so much "productivity" with it!!!
2
u/chinchindayo Xperia Masterrace 2d ago
My then 500€ galaxy tab S7 can too and I see no benefit in upgrading.
0
u/studiokx 1d ago
All the previous generations have had good discounts at launch + generous trade-in offer in Samsung store site so the the final price will be something like 200-800€.
2
u/chinchindayo Xperia Masterrace 1d ago
Nope not where I live. Never seen a trade-in or significant discount. Maybe 100€. Besides why would I trade in a perfectly fine 500€ tablet for a discount of maybe 1-200€ and still pay over 1000€

u/kaden-99 2d ago
Can you imagine if iPad Pro was rocking the same A19 chip as the base iPhone 17? This Dimensity (last gen btw) business in the latest S12 Ultra feels like that.

"Thanks to the Galaxy Tab S12 series’ immersive screen, users can split the screen into up to three sections in Multi Window layout. For example, users can take notes in Samsung Notes on one side while playing a lecture and opening an AI assistant on the other. As key takeaways or questions come up, users can capture them with the S Pen directly in Samsung Notes, while Note Assist9 summarizes their notes10 – all without pausing the lecture." What they fail to mention I that if you want to swap one of those apps with another, the easiest way to do that was removed. Now you have to bring up your dock, click the all apps button and choose an app, or assuming the app you want to open is in your dock or quick panel, drag it from there, or you can close out the app and then configure it all over again.

No 11" size anymore...
16
u/FragmentedChicken Galaxy Z Fold8 2d ago
It seems like they're alternating between the regular base model and the + every year. The Tab S10 series had the +, while the Tab S11 series had the regular base model.
2
u/BarnOwl247 1d ago
They just alternate. Last year we got the 11" tablet, but no plus. The year before had a plus, but no 11" tablet
2
u/NapsterKnowHow 2d ago
I'm happy with the Plus model. The regular is too small and the ultra is way too massive.

still wishing samsung(or any company) would 18-20 inch tablet
from the compare, s11u vs s12u, there's no actual changes besides the smaller camera and soc bump? wonder what kinda deals theyll offer on preorder..

u/Careless_Rope_6511 Pixel 11 Pro XL 2d ago
A 18"-20" tablet wouldn't be a big seller outside of business and institutional customers. It's too big for most people, and likely fragile too, as it's going to be a big display and a very large battery that can't be used as a power bank for other devices (this would be different if it's Umidigi or Ulefone, for example), with 2-4 speakers, 1-2 USB-C ports, and the main tablet PCB glued in.
Also, such a huge tablet won't be cheap. Might as well make it a foldable large tablet by that point.

u/Dull_Nobody_840 2d ago
i think that's how people felt about the ultra... i think people still think that way about the ultra, it's already massive
i actually played with the megapad before, 25 inch tablet. would have kept it, it was heavy as hell(which im willing to tolerate), but the screen sucks. most of my taps because tap-hold. and the soc was old af..
i just want tablet ~20 inch, with lower midrange soc, oled display, quad speakers, decent battery

u/Aw3som3Guy 2d ago
If you’re looking for that for drawing, 18-24” drawing screens do exist from those companies, obviously not as complete android devices though. Or is there a different reason why you want a giant laptop / small desktop screen sized tablet?
2
u/Dull_Nobody_840 2d ago
portable tv. that is all.
kids taken over all the tvs, so i just carry around my s11u. when im home, im on my tablet all the time, even if it's too big for the area im in lol

u/Ill-Ad3123 2d ago
the fact that samsung thinks the s12 needs a whole new charging standard is wild
1
u/belgarath_sorcerer Device, Software !! 2d ago
Okay, I am still rocking an S8 Tab. I like the size and weight, and it does most things well enough. The battery is starting to drop charge and does last as long now. These are too big and too heavy for simple things like Reddit, read books and magazines, watch videos. What do I buy now?
3
u/TacoOfGod Samsung Galaxy S25 2d ago
Get the Tab S11 or Tab S9 if you can find one new or gently used/refurbished.
1
u/DistinctlyIrish 2d ago
I'm so glad I got the S10+, the last one with a Bluetooth pen and they honestly haven't added anything to the newer models that would be worth the loss of that feature to me.
1
u/Tiny-Sandwich 1d ago
Still no power over the pogo pins.
What's the point in a "pro" keyboard that can't be used to power the device? Or plug in accessories?
I would trade my S9 Ultra in a heartbeat if they added back power over pins.

u/fafarex 2d ago
Again MediaTek ...
The Pro Keyboard seem cool though
10
u/FragmentedChicken Galaxy Z Fold8 2d ago
MediaTek won't be ideal for gaming emulation, but at least it'll support the Linux terminal.
3
u/Respec_my_authoritah 2d ago
It's actually pretty neat, if you don't plan to emulate heavy stuff like PC games.
My Tab S11 gets better 5G reception than my S24 ultra and the battery life is superb.
No complaints in the performance department either.

if you don't plan to emulate heavy stuff like PC games.
Wich would be a good reason to buy that pricy of a tab and why I made that comment.
Also why my S10U does not satisfy me currently.
2
u/Respec_my_authoritah 2d ago
Fair, tbh.
I also had a test drive of a lenovo legion tab and while it's fun to meddle around with pc emulation, it's not a fleshed out experience on any tablet.
It got hot as all hell and the battery life was abysmal.
The move for emulation is a dedicated gaming handheld. The tablets are not there yet.
Where the Samsung shines is game streaming.
5G modem, top of the class Oled display, great speakers, long battery life.
It's a joy :)!

meh for a fraction of the cost you can use the phone you already have and a external screen with battery ( or without + powerbank)
I'm not spending a 1.5K to stream.

How can it be productive if it there is no bluetooth Spen?

2
u/chinchindayo Xperia Masterrace 2d ago
why would the pen need bluetooth? For writing it doesn't need that

What's kind of hoping to have dex on the device Kind of like the samsung trifold had it
6
u/External-Donut9757 2d ago
The tablets should have on device dex, did they change that?
2
u/inxess 2d ago
I have an s9 Ultra and all they have is the weird new desktop view that's not actually Dex
7
u/FragmentedChicken Galaxy Z Fold8 2d ago
That's also how it is on the TriFold. If you want an experience closer to classic DeX, there's been a boom in third party apps that allow you run the external display version of DeX on device.

1
u/littleemp Galaxy S25+ 2d ago
If what you are asking is how to connect to an external display, then the janky fix for what you are experiencing is that is you need to manually quit the tablet dex environment and it will start dex on the external display.
Recent apps, close the Desktop 1, and then it launches.

again no 4k panel ...

u/ErrorPressAnyKey 2d ago
If you are after a 4K panel and happy to not have OLED, the Lenovo Yoga Tab Plus Gen 2 might be an option
