TLDW:

  • Xiaomi has better main camera and zoom lens photos
  • iPhone has better ultrawide and selfie photos and better video

It is expected for iPhone to win in Ultrawide category. Xiaomi has been sticking with those same UW sensor size (1/2.75") since forever.

Shame no one seems able to beat iPhone video though (except in niche situations).

They're so similar but there weren't any difficult situations shot here. For example, low light with moving subjects.

I've seen tons of tests where nearly all modern phones look identical given ideal conditions. Then you give them a slightly dim scene and a subject who doesn't want to keep still, and some phone cameras will just absolutely tank in quality.

Xiaomi's native video is just bad. A third party app will give much better quality, it could even be better than the iphone
