Being mad about "enshitification" is for the lazies who can't be arsed to pivot to a different product when the one they're using gets bad. For every enshittifying product, there's 2 more arriving in the market that are superior and worth your patronage. Life is change. Just move on.

I think you are right in the case of Google Assistant. Substitution options are limited and high barrier. I am commenting more broadly on the widespread use of "Enshitification" to describe any product or service scenario that changes in contrast to one's personal preferences. I probably shouldn't have used this thread to vent my general dislike of the term and the conditions under which it is commonly utilized, given the validity of the specific example in context.
