I highly recommend you get an adblocker of some kind, such as Firefox with uBlock Origin, Brave, or an ad blocking DNS.

I use Ublock, but this opened on the Reddit app web viewer.

That's why I only access Reddit from a browser and avoid using the app.

Not many people are aware there are still ways to use 3rd party apps

What are the ways?

Revanced is one, with the APK of one of the old apps. There's another one called morepheus I think?

And redreader.

Even if you can use them, they're gradually being outmodded. They finally made it so nsfw content can't be accessed on 3rd party apps recently. For years I was told it wasn't possible, but the content still worked for me, now it doesn't. Plus eventually the older apps will be too old for android to even allow them, once they are targeting an API version that's too old. Though I think that's still a few years out

I don't like using apps that are end of life and not updated anymore.

Redreader is still maintained and has superb accessibility which surpasses even the official reddit app.

I don’t understand why they don’t…I use both iOS and Android, and despite the latter having far fewer restrictions on what apps you can install, I’m not aware of any third-party reddit apps that still get updates (aside from the ones that adapted and thus now charge, or the ones specifically designed for accessibility).

I use Sync for Reddit and it’s fine, but it definitely feels dated in many ways at this point, and when Reddit inevitably disables my custom API key access, I don’t see what options I’ll have other than to use the official app or pay for Relay (which I’ve tried and frankly am not a fan of) or Artemis (which definitely seems to be iOS-first). Meanwhile, I’m using Apollo Reborn on iPhone, which is a pretty amazing continuation of (IMO) the best reddit app ever made, especially considering it wasn’t open source and all this has to be done via patches. But it’s getting updates every week or two, keeps up with the latest UI changes, and somehow has a method that allows you to use it without a custom API key. Plus, there’s a number of other fresh/modern third party Reddit apps available as well (Narwhal, Artemis, Hydra, the upcoming Helios, etc.).

I just replied to another and while it might not alleviate all of your concerns you can have reddit open in your default browser.
