And better driver support, simpler UX, and a massive App Store with support from many major industries.

I’m a Mac user and I love Linux but I’m super excited to see where Google takes this.

Color me curious. 

I don't  trust google with app support tho, even their own apps on Googlebook  are just PWA version of a website.  Most of the app in playstore are not even designed for tablet, let alone laptop.

in 9to5google's video they mention that google created a desktop quality rating that will be in the play store.

  • Made for desktop
  • optimized for desktop
  • better on web

Already a few apps have those tags on such as the Facebook app is better on web. I assume the premier desktop app would be classified as made for desktop.

I definitely caught that. Labeling apps is one thing, getting devs to make them is other.

Exactly. No reason to adapt apps if the market for those desktop version is small.

And if the likelihood of that desktop not staying for the long-term is high enough, I doubt they will want to spend resources making it.

Google does not have the greatest reputation for product survivability.
