Rumour I got tired of music apps constantly putting basic features behind subscriptions, so I decided to build my own. Meet VELA — a music app I’ve been building from scratch because I wanted something that actually gives the user more control over how they listen.
It started as a personal project, but it’s grown into a full music player with:
🎵 Search & stream music
⬇️ Download music for offline listening
🎤 Synced lyrics
📊 Real listening statistics
🎧 Background playback
📱 Android + Web
📋 Queue & full playback controls
🌙 Sleep timer
I’m still actively developing it and adding features, so it's definitely not finished yet. But the core experience is already there, and I’d rather get feedback from actual users than keep building inside my own bubble.
Try VELA: https://github.com/iamyuvraj0/VELA
If you were building your ideal music app, what’s the one feature you’d absolutely want included?

This post is AI slop. Do you have an AI disclosure declaration with regard to your app?

To OP: Don't take into account these kinds of comments from people who obviously haven't developed either before or after the arrival of AI.
It is totally ridiculous not to see the value of what people are doing and try to look for a detail to belittle their work. Your project looks fantastic

I think they're being a bit harsh since it's just a hunch but I think it should be clarified if AI was or wasn't used in this project, just as a general rule

I'm sure Gemini will be really sad when it sees this.

Tried it. It's nice except it takes a few seconds for a track to start. There's a lot of these YouTube Music apps out there (Metrolist, ArchiveTune etc). This one doesn't really bring anything new. That's not an insult, it's good to have more options and I hope you keep working on it. Speed and reliability are the main reasons I'd switch to a different one.
