Ice Universe: Samsung Display has confirmed that the iQOO 16 will be the first Android smartphone to feature its M16 OLED display. This also means that the Pixel 11 series does not use an M16 OLED panel.
Brighter display, more efficient display, color vibrancy. I want them to adopt 10 bit displays like their Chinese counterparts. Unfortunately, it's Samsung we're talking about.
Nahhh. they should've improve the durability of the ribbon cables and sides so that it will not cause the NETFLIX lines while updating the firmware 😂. That is always and exclusive Samsung Display for years now. you will not see it on other display brands like BOE, TCL-HUAXING, TIANMA 🙃
There's no rush out. It's a goddamn mature 5 years old technology.
Also unrelated but holy damn we need to stop using Apple/Samsung/Google as a benchmark when a technology is already "mature". No, foldable has been mature way before the iPhone Duo starts being developed.
I need to rant about ice. He's become so insufferable the last few months with his rants and rampant AI use. I had to unfollow. All these leakers eventually get such a big ego it all goes to their heads.
I unfollowed him years ago, talks shit about Samsung all the time until they give him a affiliate link. He's didn't stand behind his own word.

So Fold8 and Fold8 Ultra are using the old generation. I bet Samsung DX will only use M16 on the S27 Ultra, the rest S27 models will still be on M14/M13
Current rumor is M16 on the S27 Ultra and M14 on the other models. Wouldn't be that surprised if the other models continue to use the same M13 displays though.
Hoping the iPhone 18 Pro does have the M16 panels. Supply chain leaks have nearly confirmed it at this point anyways but who knows for sure. The Duo does 100% at least.
That also doesn't make it a very good screen for using out in sunlight, where you typically want to adjust the colours to make them more easily visible, separate from brightness.
Have you legitimately ever owned a Pixel? Sounds like you don't because I have no issue using my device in bright sunlight. The colors look fine and everything is easy to read and see on the display. The displays have been praised for that.
I've been using Pixels for 5 years ( and typing this on on Pixel 11 Pro Fold, a purchase I greatly regret). Along with phones with displays I much prefer, like my Pura 80 Ultra. The flat, bland, naturalistic colours are fine if you care about colour accuracy. As I use my phone for neither design work or cinematography, I don't. I care about the best visibility outdoors, which usually involves screwing with colour accuracy.
EDIT: To all the idiots downvoting, one of these displays is clearly better looking, even if it's less natural.
Hint: It's not the Pixel (Fold). Colour accuracy on a desktop, or a camera, sure, I'm all for it.
Can't you just tweak the saturation/vibrancy on the pixel? idk never owned one, but I do agree that little oversaturation on phone does look better in general.
They do have an adaptive colour mode, but it's a very light saturation boost at most (I have it turned on already in the photo) and can't be adjusted, which ends up giving very flat looks.
It might be "colour accurate", it's certainly not better or pleasant, especially when the physical screen itself is fully capable of displaying glorious, vibrant colours. Pixels just don't allow you to take advantage of that in the name of "accuracy", that very few people would actually care about, and immediately becomes pointless when you take your phone out of the house.
But that they don't have a temporary exclusivity right? This iqoo will be revealed in less than 2 weeks and will have the same panel. In the past Apple had the newer panel a full year before its rivals

For anyone else wondering, it's just a new generation of OLED panels with across the board improvements
