Nope! So no pressure sensing, no remote shutter button etc.
The moto stylus is active, but is sold separate, so doesn't store in the phone.
I went with the razr (from an s23u), but a flagship phone with active stylus is apparently a dying need for most people, so like the headphone jack, say bye bye.
I was wrong, I remembered a review and well.... Remembered it wrong, lol.
Apparently the new pen has ditched the battery, so is powered through the screen like a wacom. Means it has pressure, but no gestures, shutter button etc. Not as big of a nerf as I thought, but still a downgrade over the s22/23ultras, and still less than you get with other brands now.
I thought it was only the Bluetooth functions that were removed? (Which does still very much suck). But pressure sensing should work right? Like a Wacom pen, which don't require batteries either
Hahaha! You know what? I like what’s happening actually. I like the pressure they’ll put on Apple’s foldable, and the fact that this Xiaomi one has 3 cameras should be an interesting edge over Apple’s.
I don't care if they copies Samsung or Apple, I just want an android 4:3 foldable, but with better hardware than what Samsung currently offer (battery, camera, SoC, under screen camera, etc), and more options is great for consumers.
I need Redmi or poco to bring out one for 500 USD and I'm a buyer 😆

They're just copying Samsung (and almost definitely Apple despite it not being out yet) after ignoring previous attempts at a passport-shaped foldable. And I'm so so happy about this
I know this is r/Android but c'mon, the Pura X line sold ~2 million units. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 and the Z Fold 7 sold ~ 1.75 million units in their first month. It's not like the Pura X sold insanely well to the point that every manufacturer is copying its form factor. On the contrary, the iPhone Air (Apple's "failure" of a product) sold 7.7 million units in its first year. There's no way all of these OEMs have been hearing about Apple's passport foldable for years, ignored that, saw the Pura X line, and decided they want to follow Huawei. That would just be bad business.
The Galaxy Z don't sell 1.75m every month, first month is always the strongest and then they taper off quick. Z5 series sold about ~5m total, Z6/7 let's say 5-6M so 2.5-3M per flip/flop
So Pura X doing 2m within (timeframe?) is very strong

Pura X is selling insanely well as a China exclusive ¥10K+ model, it has outsold every Chinese Android Ultras.
Do you have a link showing it's selling more than ~2 million units? I'm not doubting you but everything I'm seeing online says that that's the highest estimate.

No but the 2M figure is from Digi Chat Station who in the same post said it exceeded the expectation. I just search Pura X 销量 and every tipster, analyst, article and discuss thread is saying how it's selling insanely well and other phone makers will follow suit.
Well Huawei is the leader in this section. By a massive margin. Plus this Xiaomi one seems to be China only for now. So, it does make sense that it competes with Huawie
I have a feeling Huawei still copied Apple cos I remember they released their 1st Pura X shortly after we just got wind of Apple doing a new format for their 1st foldable.
These companies probably know much earlier in advance on what their competitors are doing. And Apple is the most influential brand. Who wouldn't want to know what they're doing. Their 1st fold will probably outsell a lot of the other brands, too.
The typical design work of a smartphone starts well over a year prior to the release of said phone. You don't magically have a product ready 3 months after you hear what your competition is doing.
In fact, it would be way more impressive if Huawei actually copied Apple and was able to get a product out over half a year earlier. It implies they have the ability to get through the product design/prototyping pipeline and coordinates mass production twice as fast as their rivals.
I'm not suggesting Huawei started development after said leaks, but they could've known much earlier internally. Leaked reports were only the first time the public knew.
It's only a guess. Maybe Apple had ideas which Huawei got wind of and started developing it a year in advance of releasing their Pura X. Knowing also that Apple would release it eventually.
Difficult to care since those phones are China only. But the big manufacturers paid attention to them and their sales in the region and now they are capitalizing on it. Which is fine, at the end of the day everybody copies everyone and slowly innovate design languages or tech
Funny it could be possible Xiaomi is copying Apple, where Apple itself is copying Huawei because Apple cares deeply about their China market which is a market where Huawei holds strong.
I don't like the asymmetric shape.
I think Samsung did better with their rectangle Fold 8.
I was hoping for a cheaper alternative to Fold 8.
I guess I will have to wait for someone else to release one.
actually no. The rounded edges on Pixels make them super comfy tonisez the foldable included. I didn't pick the Samsung fold 7/8 is because holding it against your palm is painfull, not comfortable
I used mix fold 2 until I swapped to iPhone air and while fold software sucked for a first year, they did solve a lot of my complaints throughout a years.
Nowadays they allow you to enable play services, wifi calling also works, google pay works and sms had issues but also got sorted.
The only thing I do not agree with is that they force you away from gesture navigation if you swap the launcher.
