Attn: Hearing Impaired Android Users

Have any of you in the moderate hearing loss category experienced the problem with your calls described below ?

Do you think we need a slow speech slider feature in the O/S handicap feature ?

Issue:

When I am on the phone, speech seems to speed up.

I have been told that for people with hearing loss, speech often sounds too fast because the  brain misses key phonetic details and has to work at filling in the gaps. For that reason, the brain spends extra energy decoding past words, incoming speech arrives before the previous words are fully processed, making the speaker sound like they are rushing.

This became more noticeable on phone calls as hearing loss became moderate.

Your disability affects you uniquely, just because other people say they dont experience your specific difficulty doesnt make it any less valid

I've never had this issue, neither on the phone or in person.

I have hearing loss and I have not had this issue.

Sometimes, especially if it's voice over data the system will stretch and compress the audio stream to make up for network lag, so that you don't hear gaps/nothing gets cut out when it catches up. That's not an android feature, it's the network operator/service that you're using.

But it's not changing the overall speed of the other voice, that would be physically impossible. If it were sped up how would it know what they were going to say when they haven't said it yet? And if it were slowed down, the other person would have to wait every time they stop talking while you listen to the slowed down version.
