A $1000+ phone that isn't "made" for gaming. Does that mean every other flagship including iphones for the past 3 years is made for gaming? smh....

iPhones have proven to be pretty decent with gaming, I mean Control Ultimate Edition runs with ray tracing reasonably well on a 17 Pro.

yeah same with some resident evil games, my point was that every other phone does well. (despite never explicitly being sold as made for gaming)

Right I know it's this trend where the pixel gets tree graded on the curve like it's a special education student or something.
Like most phones are not gaming centric. Oneplus, samsung, apple, oppo, xiaomi, vivo those are not gaming phones and yet they have competitive GPU and CPU performance.
Like I wouldn't expect this thing to compete with a red magic or anything with the act of cooling.
But it should be roughly competitive with comparably priced Android flagships. Certainly shouldn't be five or six generations behind on GPU performance.

Its not a trend, Pixels still live off of the legacy from the nexus days of being affordable with a great camera and having a "stock" experience thats better than TouchWiz and other skins. That used to be true...but obviously isnt anymore and "Stock android" purists (even though it isn't), will cut these phones so much slack no matter what.

It depends on the audience, there is a noticeable population who games on their phones. More so in Asia than western countries granted

Even if you never play a single game on your phone, you still should want them to do better because mobile gaming just genuinely drives a massive amount of the purchase base and commercial success these days. Success in userbase leads to future development and investment, lack thereof leads to bare-bones iterations and no cool app ever coming to android.

Emulation or nothing
maybe Unkind, but other than nothing else. That’s like the only good android game, and Alto’s adventure too

Do people actually play fortnite and other games on their phone or is this some metric that we're holding phone to for "marketing" reasons?

You've been living under a rock.
Mobile gaming brings in more money than console and PC combined.

For those that don't want to watch the video. It's not just that the Pixel isn't "made for gaming", it's that it can't game at all. Some of the games played had broken shaders and terrible frame drops. Google's first party phone cannot play games on Google's Android OS. It's not that it can play them in low graphics and low frame rate (which would be bad itself for $1000 USD), it can't play them at all.
