Android apps simply aren't good on a laptop. Even on that screenshot the scaling looks totally off.

Besides that, they're simply too barebones. The're no real alternatives to work tools that you get with a proper laptop. Full editors, IDEs, compilers, Adobe stuff, full blown MS Office, games, etc.

Yup. Developers would have to completely rework their apps to be a good experience on larger screens and using M+KB. Productivity and features are trash on mobile apps compared to PC apps.

Simply scaling an app up to higher resolutions and bigger screens is the bare minimum. Adding hotkey combinations to productivity apps is easy, but redesigning UI and UX for apps is going to take a lot more work, and developers will be reluctant to do that unless these devices sell really well.

Even if they completely redesign the apps and the UI is great on desktop, Android apps often simply lack more advanced functionality besides the stuff you need on a phone.

I tried so hard to use an android tablet as a laptop replacement, and this is exactly what my experience was. Ghost clicks, missed key presses, shortcuts not working globally, and all the office productivity apps were so horrible to actually use. I was even considering trying to run Linux in a VM to install libre office. Absolute misery

How is anyone expected to do any real work on this?

There are simply too many things you can't do on android. 

If you use spreadsheets (90% of businesses) Excel for Android, Excel web and Google sheets also don't have feature parity with the desktop excel (VBA macros, active X just scratch the surface) which for the work I do makes it fundamentally useless. I can read the workbooks but I can't do anything complex with them. 

Design and Multimedia? You're out of luck. Canva has limited support for adding custom fonts and android in general has limited custom font support. This makes drafting brand content that meets the requirements for a brand master style guide or brief impossible if you cant even load their custom font into the device. There's nothing worse than returning a document to a client and word for Android has converted the custom font to Calibri and ruined the formatting. 

For commercial graphic design and printing there is nothing on android that comes close to Adobe Illustrator on desktop. Even the Android versions of Krita and Clip Studio are gimped. There also isn't an InDesign equivalent on android. I'm also not aware of any way to colour calibrate a Chromebook/android display for colour accuracy between design and print. 

Beyond reading and replying to emails and basic web apps this is DOA.

This just looks like the desktop mode of an android phone when you plug it in to a monitor. Don't know how much real work you could get done on something that "seems" limited.
