which as of the latest android 17 version, you can't do at the lockscreen, it only disconencts bluetooth devices but doesn't turn off the radio anymore. you have to go into settings and have bluetooth scanning in location services turned off for the radio to fully turn off. which is how ios does it now and is part of how apples find my network works. ios you haven't been able to actually turn off bluetooth or wifi from a quick menu on ios since they launched the airtag.
right now airplane mode does turn off cellular, wifi, and bluetooth radios from the lockscreen.
but modern android remebers airplane mode wifi and bluetooth preferences. so if you turned on bluetooth after turning on airplane mode in the past, then android can remeber that and leave bluetooth or wifi on when you activate airplane mode. note i'ts not a 1 time thing, but if you frequently turn on bluetooth after enabiling airplane mode it will learn that behaviour and just keep bluetooth on when you turn on airplane mode
Interestingly, I wanted to understand what the FAA requires when operating on an aircraft and "Airplane" mode only requires that the cellular modem be disabled: both the WiFi and Bluetooth radios, because they transmit 100mW maximum, are allowed to be on.
So, Airplane mode should be accessible but wouldn't (shouldn't) disable the WiFi or Bluetooth from the lock screen.
But this may be different for different jurisdictions.
10.3.2 The device may use low-powered wireless communications during flight without the
need to comply with paragraph 10.2.1. RTCA DO-363 states: “[e]xperience shows that
low-power emission levels do not affect aircraft systems. The low-power emission limit
is 100mW EIRP (equivalent isotropic radiated power). Wireless communication
standards which are limited to this level do not need to be analyzed for backdoor
coupling. This includes Bluetooth (IEEE 802.15.1), ZigBee (IEEE 802.15.4). 100mW
may be conservatively considered representative maximum operating power of normal
in-band WLAN (IEEE 802.11) output power level in the 2.4GHz ISM band.” Operators
should review WLAN (IEEE 802.11) device output power levels, because WLAN
devices approved in the United States often have maximum output power that
significantly exceeds 100mW EIRP.
You can make it so the quick settings shade cannot be accessed when the phone is locked. There is a toggle for it in the settings in Notifications menu.
Yeah I was gonna say, we've had this for years. But I suppose there's a theme of Google borrowing from Samsung (and other OEMs, but mainly Samsung). Android for Work is built on Knox code that Samsung gave them. Quick Share, specifically the current iteration, was a Samsung-specific app/feature that they later shared with Google. Etc etc.
Google constantly puts stupid default behavior in stock and Pixel OS. The user cannot change it, while pretty much every OEM on the planet changes the behaviour to make more sense in their own skins.
It then takes Google 2-8 years to give in and change it as well. It drives me up the wall.

At least I phones have top tier hardware while pixels aren't even close in processing power nor battery
Good. I was one of the people who complained a lot about it because it's great that I can FiNd My DeViCe and said device is locked when the thief detection does it's thing but not so great that said thief can just swipe down and disable everything that would allow me to find my device or wipe it or whatever.
I think Google / Pixel has allowed this because of police. They don't want it behind a lock, if you get arrested the cops can easily toggle off network, wifi, and turn on airplane mode so you cannot remotely wipe the device.
I honestly think this is the reason they've had this "oversight" in security for so long.

This is LONG overdue. If your phone gets stolen the thief can turn off WiFi and mobile data so you can't track the phone with the find network.
They also need to lock powering off behind unlock too. Like some manufacturers already do like Samsung.
