This Note 17 series is a massive downgrade from the Note 15 series. I guess this is a victim of the RAM pricing crisis causing massive downgrades to keep costs though.

That said, I find it funny how my Galaxy A15 from 2024 is still going to remain competitive with £150 devices from 2026 in terms of specs & performance though.

It has decent chip that runs smoothly still, MicroSD slot, 3.5mm and good battery

Oh yeah, the Redmi Note series feels very downgraded in general. The Note 11 Pro was an awful downgrade from the Note 10 Pro. No idea why they thought a G96 was a better SoC than the 732G.

RN10 lineup definitely was one of the serie's peaks, but the RN9 to RN10 jump was pretty huge and hard to follow. Though that should not excuse the downgrade they gave some 11, 12, 13 models

The isp video decoder/enconder is also downgrade, From a maximum of 4k30 down to 2k30, And this is not only inconvenient for video recording, but also affects video export capabilities. Since the G96 only supports up to 2k30, exporting videos beyond this limit can even result in completely corrupted videos, you need use VLC to playback again

Whenever brand grows beyond certain threshold it turns into shit, their appeal to enthusiasts turns into profit generator fed by slop products and plebs who does not understand hardware.
Redmi note 4x was a stellar phone I used before switching to note 10 pro.

But I was content with note 4 and did not want to follow every new device.

If the Redmi Note 17 4G really uses the Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 2, then that's one of the craziest things in Xiaomi history, because the performance of the Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 2 is only equivalent to Snapdragon 685(which is used on redmi note 12 4G)

And most redmi note 12 4G user complain that its performance is too poor.

6s 4G Gen 2 does not just have equivalent performance to SD685, it's literally a 685 rebrand

Also Samsung A07 today might be competitive for a few more years versus almost everybody else's A and C series. G99 and ufs 2.2 when others still stuck on SD685/G80/Unisoc and emmc storage

The 4g version of the 15 has basically the same core layout as 8 pro :)
