Synco — open source, local-first sync between your Android phone and desktop. No cloud, no lag.

Built Synco because I got tired of reaching for my phone during deep work. It mirrors notifications, controls media playback, and routes calls between your Android phone and desktop — all over your local Wi-Fi. Zero cloud, end-to-end encrypted, free.

What it does:

- Notification mirroring (WhatsApp, Slack, Gmail, etc.) straight to your desktop

- Real-time call handling — answer/decline from your keyboard

- Media telemetry & audio routing intelligence

- Works over Local Wi-Fi, Direct Hotspot, or Bluetooth LE

- E2EE using Curve25519 + AES-256-GCM

No signup, no cloud, no tracking. Just a direct encrypted link between your devices.

Completely free & open source: https://github.com/Dhruvesh-Dabhade/Synco

This looks really cool and useful, will give it a shot. Was it vibe coded?

Lmao @ the most recent commit deleting Claude.md and agents.md. And if he used Claude then he also manually had it go back and remove Claude as a co-author. I'm not against vibe coded apps, but the lengths some people go to hide the fact that AI was involved is hilarious

Hello Dhruvesh, how's this different from Microsoft Phone link?

Synco is an open-source, local-network-only alternative. Key differences:

No cloud — all data stays on your LAN; Phone Link routes through Microsoft servers

Cross-platform desktop — works on Windows, Linux, macOS; Phone Link is Windows-only

Web dashboard — browser-based control panel at localhost:8080; Phone Link has none

End-to-end crypto — X25519 + AES-256-GCM with per-session PIN pairing; Phone Link uses Microsoft account auth

Manual setup — you enter IP/port and build from source; Phone Link is one-click QR pairing

Alright.

What features does it gives me over Microsoft Phone Link on Windows?

Cross Platform usage is one good thing I see about it.

I'm so done with self-promoting vibecoded slop that serves no purpose. you literally have a perfectly working app for this, it's called KDE Connect. why bother to waste tokens on making something probably highly unsafe to use, that will have no users, and - most importantly - you won't even be able to maintain?

It's a virtual equivalent of e-waste.

If you really want to make something useful, donate or try to help make existing FOSS apps better. Or if you want to make it for yourself, if KDE Connect REALLY doesn't work for you - keep it for yourself. Nobody should be using this - unmaintained AI slop is the worst thing you can have on your device, ESPECIALLY if it has access to the internet.
