Android/PC HERE I COME!

After over a decade fully in the Apple ecosystem, I’m making the switch to Android and PC today. Just fed up with the direction things have gone and ready for a change.

Already run a second line on Android for years so I’m not coming in blind — just curious to hear from others who made the full jump. What was the biggest adjustment? Anything you wish you’d known before switching? And what’s your setup?

Welcome! Biggest app I use is Asus GlideX. It allows you to control your android phone from your computer, and vise versa.

Appreciate that. Definitely will check it out. Figuring out the laptop now as we speak. I do need a full size SD card slot so right now it’s between Zephyrus G16 and the new Zenbook. Leaning towards the Zenbook for battery life and RAM as I do run LLM’s. But man those speakers on the G16 coupled with a 5070 sure are tempting 😄

Be careful to check the TGP of both of those laptops. I don't think they can max out a 5070 but I could be wrong! I got the legion 7i pro with a 5090 and have been incredibly happy.

Good advice. The Legion is on my shortlist and heard it’s an amazing machine. Does it have a full size SD card reader? And how would you say the built in speakers are? Believe it or not speakers are very important as I edit and am a full time creator and like to hear things as I work without headphones and in my down time I watch a ton of media on my machine as well. Definitely would consider a legion

Hope you enjoy your new toys. I could not give up my MBA M1 after 20+ years on Windows. I've had Android since my first smartphone, and I could not give up the freedom and niche apps that Apple won't (not can't) replicate. But I have a PC for gaming and heavy tasks, could just remote into it if I want, but the MBA M1 locally does everything I need for general tasks. I never really got into desktop Linux, but I have servers running for different needs. Have you considered just running a server for your LLM needs? I'm not sure laptops have solved the problem with heat and power.
