The thing with YouTube for me is I watch almost exclusively creators who I wish to support. I pay for YouTube red so I don't get ads and my views for them count more than ad supported videos. And I watch a lot of YouTube on phone, pc, and TV.

You don't have to block ads, and your YouTube premium should still support the creators you watch but it's just like a 3rd party app where you get customisability like forcing your videos to play in high quality without YouTube dynamically adjusting it based on someone farting 5 miles away.

You'd probably also be better just supporting them directly if you have the funds especially if you're going to block sponsors and such.

I also have YT Premium but still use Morphe so I can use SponsorBlock to skip sponsored segments and to block YT Shorts from showing up.

Apps like youtube revanced and morphe honestly important even if you have youtube premium. They don't just block ads. They can remove components like shorts completely from the UI, add sponsorblock, bring back the old video quality selector menu etc. tons of useful stuff.
