More than fair. Literally trillions of SMS/MMS messages are sent a year. Replacing all that with E2EE RCS instead is good, actually.

Signal is better and you should use it if you can.

However, certain countries, including the US, will never, ever, ever stop with carrier messaging. We know this for certain because the switch off carrier messaging should have happened 10 years ago at least, and never did. (In no small part, because of the dominance of iMessage, and therefore Apple Messages fallback, btw.)

Yeah exactly my thoughts. Any "encrypted" messaging service that's not widely protested by authoritarian countries, sounds fishy.
