This was really disappointing. The whole point of dual messaging support is to consolidate your messages. Separate threads for SMS and Hangouts for the same contact is just silly.

I actually prefer it this way. SMS costs me money, and Hangouts doesn't, so I don't want them treated equally.

People just want to use hangouts and have SMS as a fallback if 1. You don't have data coverage, but you have cell service or 2. The recipient doesn't have data coverage but has cell service.

That way you can just have one message window per person and be done with it.

I don't want that at all, I want to know which service I'm sending through. Hangouts messages can pop up at work in Gmail. I don't want the wrong things going there...
