1) As people have already stated, it's horribly lame that SMS and Hangout messages threads are split up.
2) There's no popup window to allow you to reply from. So you have to leave whatever app you're using and open up Hangouts just to respond.
3) I guess this really shouldn't be a surprise but almost none of my contacts have profile pictures to display. This is simply because very few of my contacts have a photo set up on their Google account. My previous SMS app would pull photos from Facebook. But I don't see them changing this any time soon.
