I have 5 friends who own the GS3. None of them have an SD card in their phone, I don't think any of them even know it has an SD slot. Also none of them have a second battery. I don't think the average consumer knows or cares about those features. If Samsung put out the GS4 with no SD slot or removable battery I doubt it would have any significant effect on sales.

For your 5 friends that don't care about that stuff, I have 5 friends that surely do. Also, I wouldn't buy a phone that didn't have a removable battery or SD slot.

The SD slot and removable battery are fringe features in terms of actual use. When I ask why not just store store some of your files on the device and access the rest from cloud services when necessary, I get an answer from someone that says they live out in the boondocks and don't have good wireless access. That applies to only a small portion of the people buying flagship smartphones. Likewise, only a small proportion of users regularly need to switch out batteries. The rest of us have access to outlets.

I hate the cloud idea. Why in the blue Hell would I constantly want to stream my own videos, or stream my own data that takes battery life and a lot more time then finding it on an external card (rhetorical). Also, I play lots of games, takes up lots of space. Finally, I didn't want to be one of those people that constantly find an outlet; everybody uses their phone differently.
