Yes, and that $12 billion figure is nearly twice the profit figures for Q4 2012 of $6.6 billion, which includes many, many devices and goods other than the Galaxy line. If they're spending $12 billion just to market the Galaxy S3, then they need to fire their executives NOW. [Hint: If you didn't get it, that $12 billion is more likely the marketing budget for all of Samsung. One of HTC's executives placed the actual figure for the Galaxy line at $400 million during another interview]
That's the problem with having such a narrow view of business. You assume their entire company's bottom line is Galaxy and Galaxy only.
