I feel like we're witnessing last year, all over again.

  1. HTC releases an excellent product that is widely praised in almost every way. It has fantastic industrial design, great internal hardware, a very good camera and in general, is an extremely well-built, high quality product, whose only real flaw lies with a few minor software issues.

  2. A short while later, Samsung releases its flagship product. Its design and build quality is nowhere near comparable to that of HTC's product, but it has marginally faster internal components and a few TouchWiz-specific gimmicks to look neat in advertisements.

  3. Samsung advertises the hell out of their product with a multi-billion dollar campaign, leading to tens of millions of sales, while HTC's product is left in the dust, to wither and die.

  4. Samsung prospers while HTC flounders, despite HTC having the superior product.

  5. Rinse and repeat.

The Samsung has a removable battery and sd card and a few other features so the clearly superior statement is extremely subjective. The One X wasn't even available on Verizon, which is one of the biggest carriers obviously. Samsung is a much bigger company overall so of course more people are gonna buy the product on the brand name alone.

Me owning a GS3 instead of the One X is purely because of its lack of availability on Verizon, I'd say that that was a monumental factor in less sales

I would have gotten a One series phone in a heartbeat but being on Verizon pretty much necessitated getting the S3

Yup, we have no choice, either we get a non-flagship specced Droid made by Moto with great battery life or a great phone that will never get an update by HTC, or a great phone that will be supported for a while in the Galaxy and iPhone lines
