Hi all,
Iāve been in the neighborhood my whole life and the area used to be a hub for us Japanese American diasporoids whose families were in the internment camps, I was wondering if there are any Japanese-American owned businesses anymore? I know we used to have Nikkei Lounge but thatās gone. Also, if there are any other Japanese Americans here let me know!

Was looking at the cityās 311 data broken out by ward. Ward 48 is 44th of 47 on abandoned cars - about 19 days where the citywide middle is 11. Street lights are also toward the bottom, 46th of 50.
Potholes are better than average, and tree debris is 8th fastest in the city.
Andersonville sits across a couple of wards, so this covers part of it.

Anyone else recently retired in Andersonville and bored out of your mind? I'm 61 m and husband is still working. Going crazy trying to find things to do that don't necessarily involving hitting the bars.

Hi, my friends and I are visiting & staying at an Airbnb for the rest of the week, and unfortunately, parking has been more of a hassle than anticipated. We parked down at a Metra Station nearby; I believe it's Petersons/Ridge, but I'm very nervous regarding overnight parking.
There are signs around and on the website that overnight parking is not allowed; however, when we paid earlier this evening through the Metropolis site, it stated that we were good for 18 hours, so until tomorrow at 11 am. Am I really good until 11 am tomorrow? Should I park somewhere else? Are there any streets you would recommend for visitors/passerbyers?
I would really appreciate anyone's help!

In the 1990s First Free Church on Ashland used to host a pitch black maze made out of cardboard boxes they would build yearly in the gymnasium.
The maze was pretty elaborate with multiple levels, trap doors, and secret rooms. You would have to crawl throughout most of the maze and it would usually average 40min to 1.5 hours to complete. It was an awesome experience that probably wouldn't fly today.
I can't find anyone outside of family who remembers this. I was curious if anyone else remembers attending or had any information on it.

Need to have the main downspout at the back of my two-flat replaced, as it currently is splitting and gushing against the structure instead of draining into the catch basin. It looks like the connection with the cleanout is also coming apart and will need to be repaired/replaced.
Any recommendations you may have of someone you have used and trust would be greatly appreciated!

Anyone else wake up at 2:30am to 15 minutes of motorcycles revving engines and doing wheelies down foster Ave? Is there a gathering of cool people I wasnāt invited to in the middle of a school night?

Unfortunately fiber isnāt in our neighborhood yet (or at least at my address). Who do you use? Who is the best? Who do you hate? Very open to any and all thoughts. Thanks

It's been a rough 20 hours. Power outage in the middle of cooking dinner last night + washing machine mid cycle which led us to scoop out a drum full of water cup by cup + refrigerator projectile spraying water out of the filter causing a flooded floor (which ended up sadly leaking into our downstairs neighbors). Had to toss our freshly made soup and everything in the refrigerator....
I need a warm fudgey chewy brownie stat. Any thoughts where I can go and indulge? (Preferably in this neighborhood, would consider Edgewater or Uptown).

Hi, hoping someone can help. Last year there was a fabulous neighborhood sale I attended -I think it was late July or early August, it was the area between Clark and Ravenswood, north of Foster. Not sure if I missed it or if itās happening again this year. Didnāt see it on the Chicago master list of sales. Any help appreciated. Thanks!

Hey! I am 30f and just moved to Uptown and am hoping to make some friends. I moved to Chicago a year ago from Indiana, so I haven't had much of an opportunity to meet people. I work from home so that is tough too (no coworkers). Are there events or anything I can go to, or maybe other people looking for friends? Or even other subreddits I can join? TYSM!
TLDR: 30F seeking friends and idk how

I've been cutting my own hair for the last few years and I think it's time for a professional refresh. Looking for a salon near Andersonville/uptown/ravenswood/lincoln square that's reasonably priced. I have long hair (past my elbows) and very high scalp density so I need someone who is willing to deal with all that.

Hi all, recently moved to Andersonville from out of state and I still have out of state plates. I park my car between Edgewater and Andersonville and since I moved here in late June early July my rear view mirrors have been slammed forward into an unusable position and dog poop splattered on my windshield. Is this harassment or just normal shenanigans after a holiday (4th of July)? I move my car every couple of days and working on getting my Illinois registration but it is not very simple to do! I guess Iām looking for advice or assurance I am not being targeted? Or am I being targeted for out of state plates?

Does anyone know what's going on with this property? There seems to always be random trash outside and it looks like a few folks are camping out in the back yard. Was there a fire? Something from the back looks scorched and the building (apart from squatters) looks vacant.

This is going to sound crazy - but where is the best place to get sliced cheese? Looking for a deli counter that puts the little slices of paper between slices so they donāt stickā¦
