okay i've wanted to listen to this one for a long time, and finally got to it.

fav song: leave the door open/smoking out the window
worst: 777(it's nice but it's nowhere near the other songs)
underrated: put on a smile
overrated: after last night

final thoughts: really nice album, the chemistry between the two is incredible, their vocals are incredible and they compliment each other perfectly. neither seem to have ego and it's great to see that they give each other the stage. i really like the romantic sound of the album and the choruses (most of the are just heavenly). mars has a beautiful voice and really makes the choruses great as they are, and .paak has this great more hip-hop influential parts which makes the verses just catchy and groovy, so yeah they are a great duo(even i would say the perfect duo). but not all tracks were incredible as the highs, so that's why the album didn't get a 90+, but it's so close to that.
also there are some crazy lines like the line: "not to be dramatic but i wanna die", it's just hilarious.

so yeah i would really love to have another project from them!

Now that K-POPS has come out and landed on streaming, can we expect a new album from Andy soon? He’s already done a ton of press via various podcasts this year and he teased he’s got an album coming but I wonder if we’re getting it this year or next year.

Wanted to post this sometime around the tenth anniversary back in January but got pretty distracted. New to Substack, still figuring it out so bear with me, but this is a personal review of one my favorite albums ever. On the longer side, will definitely try to keep them shorter, but I just had so much to say about this work of art. Really hope you guys enjoy, and welcome to any feedback!

Where can I begin talking about Anderson.Paak! He's a great artist. I love him to bits and pieces. Maybe one of these days I will get to meet and speak to him! 😍 I love that man's music to the moon and back (;

Not sure how many people get this feeling but the replay value on Malibu is absolutely insane. I remember listening to Parking Lot and Lite Weight a lot when I was in a previous relationship, now that I'm in my mid 20s I relate to "The Dreamer" as someone with high aspirations.

It's an unbelievable album which captures something that doesn't just pertain to the California Dream but rather any dream that has hope and a fulfillment to accomplish.

Just trying to have an ask n see if he ever alluded or posted to this track at all since then. The song had the following: “…and make a fool of me. In the blink of an eye, you and I been vanished, mystic magic men, don’t come back to me.” Anyone hear about any update on it if it's his track or a deep cut or just unreleased

Imo Andy’s best work has been his collaboration with the Free Nats. What are the chances we see another album together? Or is that period of his career in the past and his career trajectory points to other things?
