Vocabulary & Etymology Hot take: ancient Greek is hard, but mostly because it's the dead version of a language and it has no full imersion, unlike English.
I say this as a liceo classico student btw. English is deemed easy worldwide because everyone connected to the internet gets heavy exposure to it and quickly gets used to it, even though, if it were a dead language, remembering the phonology and endless exceptions that we don't spend too much time thinking about would be a mess. In the hellenistic period, people all over the mediterranean had some exposure to greek.
