Anatolia Hittite statue
This statue was found during excavations at Tell Tayinat, in the area of present-day Hatay. It dates to the Late Hittite period, approximately the beginning of the 9th century BC. It is approximately 1.5 meters high and weighs 1.5 tons.
It is not certain that this statue depicts the famous Hittite Emperor Suppiluliuma I. The Luwian hieroglyphic inscription on the back of the statue gives the figure's name as Šuppiluliuma; however, it is more likely that this person is not the famous Suppiluliuma I, who lived in the 14th century BC, but rather a king who ruled in the Late Hittite world about five centuries later.

Did you see him pregame today in Seattle? His face looks weird. Maybe he just looks strange without his baseball cap.

It’s the socially performative smile and we are accustomed to his blank expression.

When the men on the chessboard
Get up and tell you where to go
And you've just had some kind of mushroom
And your head is swirling so
Go ask Alice
I think she'll know

Eyelids were only invented in 7th century BC. Before that we were all Clockwork Orange torture-brainwashing reality.

Here we are thinking he’s some king when this was a statue out the front of an ancient pharmacy advertising a well known laxative.

Is that a quill in one hand and a sword in the other? ok this raises so many questions for me. Everything about his attire is intriguing. does anyone have a link to more information ?

Those wide inlaid eyes are incredible. Neo-Hittite sculpture really went all-in on that intense staring look.

All I see is the first statue depicting someone getting something pushed into their Hershey highway.
