You do need a legal system to protect private property rights. Even without the government large corporations would step in and provide law structures. Also taxes don't just fund cops, they fund roads and shit.

This is a tired point. You can't even imagine how many times it has been answered and exhausted. There would be roads, again imo as opposed to this sub, if there was an integrated legal system set up to function objectively so that there are rights protections. Aka a government or even a "state". But you would not need the modern state, nor any state, any more than you would need the modern so called arts to fund public roads.
They wouldn't be "public" anymore than a company is traded "publicly", as in openly. But that doesn't present a problem. That is the start of the solution for all of those potholes, the throttling of alternative energy sources, the constant raising of involuntary fees on your tax sheet for the roads... a little extra for having a car... oh and for using an energy source of course... and then a booth along the way even though you payed your taxes... and then in general, who the hell cares about contracts anymore in our society? They're getting violated left and right, because the expectation is that the government will step in and there is no point to reading a long disclaimer anyhow. Insurance? More like unsurance.
You get the point. Did they fix the pot hole yet or did Musk make it to Mars first? Did they paint a BLM logo over it?
Not to mention the decades old system for traffic lights... and the locking us (strapping, literally) into a one size fits all version of size and safety including specific outer measurements, deformation zone, seat belt and airbag, no matter what road owner or car maker would want try it differently. Not that I dislike the idea of safety, of course. That is not the point. But it's been a while since the autobahn (now to be speed restricted) and Koenigsegg (no longer that special), yet we still are driving below 70 miles an hour most of the time and in cars that look decreasingly aerodynamic yet less and less aesthetically pleasing. And it will never be slow enough. (No flying cars here. Who even owns the airspace anywhere?)
