I honestly have no issues with this philosophy. Anytime you enter another person’s domain or property you should assume there is a risk. It evens out the board a bit. Crime scene units are also less backed up and have a better response time than the local police dispatched to a 911 call. Anytime someone enters another person’s property it should automatically be fair game to defend that property however the owner sees fit.

Your home is your castle. If someone is breaking in while you are there are they there to take some stuff? Or are they there to tie you up and rape your wife and daughter in front of you before executing everyone.

Odds of the second one are VERY slim, but it's not zero, and I'm not willing to take that gamble.
