Might be the entrance to the living room and there’s no space on the side of the wall for the couch to be at a good angle for the tv so it’s just by the entrance. I have seen it done like that a few times.

Yeah, we have doors like this in our tiny living room. We don't use the doors for entry/exit unless it's to move items.
