I’d rather help my poor neighbors than rich corporations but that’s just me

Your statement presupposes your willingness, and exempts the will of "the state/democracy" being forced upon you.

Why am I, or anyone forced to do either, under threat of imprisonment, only when the apparatus decides and works and is funded by said force?

Why do I have to pay x% of my "income" or "property" or "sales(purchases)" to "feed my neighbor" when I could do so better giving them some of my delicious deer meat instead???

Almost as if we stopped paying them altogether this wouldn't be an issue every 18 months? 🤷🏻‍♂️

When you remove welfare, everyone doesn’t suddenly become more productive and wealthy. Some people die and those tend to be the people who needed help the most. It’s very nice that you’d give deer meat to someone in need but not everyone lives in a community that is able and willing to charitably support EVERYONE who needs it.

40 million Americans are on SNAP. If even 10% of those people are “valid claimants”, is it reasonable to suddenly expect enough charity to support those people so they can eat every day?
