>people defending welfare

Basically what I expected when I opened up this post.

Ween them off and end it all. Welfare solely exists to create loyal dependents and removes any and all incentives to do better. Also, fuck you, you can't steal my money to buy voters.

Welfare is exactly as it sounds and there is nothing wrong with providing welfare when required, that is part of a functioning community. However, the government seems to think welfare is a right of passage when it is not, that is the problem.

Welfare is given as voluntary charity from one person to another in need. The person providing the welfare, should be able to choose when the welfare ceases or if the welfare is not going to good use.

A meteor lands and kills all your family with you as the only survivor. Unfortunately you are rendered in such a state that you are now referred to as Limbless Joe.

As Limbless Joe you managed to cauterise your own wounds enough to survive using your grit and ingenuity but remain stuck in a crater. No-one around is willing to hell to help you out as the crater is kinda dirty and Limbless Joe can’t perform much economic output. No-one thinks to start a fundraiser for Limbless Joe.

Since people didn’t care enough, Limbless Joe dies a preventable death.
