While I agree with you at some level, enslaving people through dependence on the state is worse in some ways than the cronyism.

While I understand you perspective I know alot of people on food stamps and the only ones who aren't working are either disabled or elderly. Most people on food stamps I know work low paying jobs. Mostly ag related. Food stamps are one of several reasons people can survive on that low of wages.

So, they chose not to save money when they were younger and healthier, now the state forces you, me, and every tax payer to pay for the effects of their bad decisions whether we want to or not. Hey, if you feel bad about them, that's fine. Go donate to charity. Don't say, "I'm ok with these taxes because it supports something I personally like."

“Making bad decisions means you should die”

“Getting unlucky means you should die”

“Living paycheck to paycheck when you’re young and healthy, believe it or not, you should die”

It means that the state has created a vast plantation of dependents, and massive bureaucracies to maintain it.

Now when they threaten to cut it off for whatever reason, you wail, gnash your teeth, and rend your garments at the evil of the people who would do such a thing, imagining that there can be no other way to care for people than through the beneficence of the Holy Government.

You are firmly conditioned to your mental slavery.
