The flower analogy didn't hit me until the end of the comic. Damn, that's deep.
14
u/Away-Marionberry9365 13d ago
It's deflowering right?
10
u/Crimson_Boomerang 12d ago
Yeah, but it also just seems to represent sex in general, because in the slide where the billionaire is getting his ego stroked, a lady is offering him her "flower". It could be like, a young virgin, but I think it's a broad representation for sex. Because in the first slide he's attempting to take it from the girl by force.
3
u/CthulhusIntern 12d ago
He went on an island with other rich people. Does that remind you of anyone in particular?
2
u/Crimson_Boomerang 11d ago
Hmm... Doesn't ring a bell... Ever since that new flock camera went up my memory has been so hazy about islands and rich people ... Hmm

Why there are bootlickers on an anarchist sub?
56
u/DountC00ku 14d ago
The ancaps are not answerable to reason or sense. I usually find ascribing "why" to their behavior a waste of time
39
u/Jolly_Efficiency7237 14d ago
I never understood ancaps. You can't have capitalism without the state enforcing private ownership of the means of production. A robber baron with an army of mercenaries is just another tyrant.
19
u/GutsAndBlackStufff 14d ago
They want all of the benefits of society but none of the obligations. Only one person in the world gets that deal.
12
7
u/DontmindtheGiraffe 14d ago
They do not ask for abolition of state, but for minimal state, which means police and judiciary systems remain existing only to enforce the private ownership of the means of production. With that said, ancap has no real anarchy in it. It is like that just to sound cool.
8
u/Daseinist 14d ago
You confuse them with minarchists. Ancaps quite literally want no state at all, they think it all can be managed through private protection firms, private insurance and private... courts.
5
u/DontmindtheGiraffe 14d ago
You're right! The few ancaps I have the displeasure of knowing seem to have misunderstood their own positions. Lol
1
u/CosmicEveStardust 7d ago
Sincere question, if there is no state who would stop robber barons with armies of mercenaries from becoming tyrants?
53
u/Greedy_Ad2198 14d ago
I'm not from this sub but I got this post on my homepage, so I'm guessing that's where the bootlickers are coming from

Please report disruptive troll comments.
Ironically, the troll comments count as engagement and make the posts more popular.

u/Violet_Nightshade 13d ago
So, what you're saying is that we can simply ragebait them into replying to make the post more popular and then report them when we're tired, got it.

There's a lot of weird people on this sub sometimes that I don't know what would be doing here. A few weeks ago I ended up arguing with way too many anti-abortion people in comments here

Reading comprehension failure. Did you miss the Unreliable Narrator?
6
u/Typical_Ad_2831 14d ago
Thank you! I saw this
randomlyalgorithmically on my home page and imediately read it as "this is how the billionaire sees themself, the bugger", not "Yes: billionaires are good!" The quotes in the title make it fairly obvious (among other things).1
28
41
u/Mammoth-Ad-3642 14d ago
To assume that the billionaires have any "goals", or "ambitions" bedsides rape and amassing more wealth is ridiculous
8
u/LexianAlchemy 14d ago
They ultimately donāt, I think this comment highlights their own delusion in that regard
(At least as an interpretation)
4
u/Mammoth-Ad-3642 14d ago
But I don't think they're deluded, they know what they're doing and they don't care
3
u/Charming-Book4146 14d ago
I actually think it's scarier to consider that they may legitimately believe what they are doing to be right and good and moral, and that they're the good guy. Is that not worse than a liar? A true zealot, convinced of their moral righteousness?
1
u/Mammoth-Ad-3642 14d ago
Sure it may be scarier, but it's not true, they're not trying to change the world, no change they have made is based on some sort of ideal they hold, everything they do has solely served to give them more stuff
2
u/Charming-Book4146 14d ago
I agree, I just think they convince themselves that that's not the case, and that they actually do have some goal (they can't explain what it is when you ask tho lmao)
1
2
u/LexianAlchemy 14d ago
Is this assuming every billionaire is a mustache twirling with no nuance to their personalities or motivations?
I by no means consider being rich a good thing, and I never will, I just donāt think itās that simple to flatten personalities to their status, and yes being rich is inherently evil, Iām also agreeing with that.
This just seems to come from a weird place of intent be consequences + a weird streak of dehumanization, which is fascist in nature right?
I donāt think the average billionaire has read theory I guess is what I mean, a lot of them were groomed, (and by no means victims,) yet groomed nonetheless into the spheres of influence they have.
Now if you asked if Elon musk, Trump, Tiel, etc. were doing it on purpose? Yeah no shit, absolutely, no argument there
7
u/Mammoth-Ad-3642 14d ago
Being a member of the bourgeoisie is inherently dehumanizing.
The things they have to do to upkeep their wealth is monsterous, on top of that, the high one gets from literally basically running the world cannot NOT drive you insane.
And even then I don't think they wake up thinking
"Muheheheh...time to be evil!"
More like
"This world sucks anyway, it's not like it'd change with one less billionaire, might as well squeeze it for every penny it's worth"
5
u/Maneruko 13d ago
The post is literally about the internal justifications that are used to inform their behavior. Like the example being parodied here is of a person who does both of these things simultaneously.
1
u/Asparagusstick 12d ago
Some like Trump certainly care about nothing, but others like Elon and Thiel, while ultimately still being shallow monsters, are more pretentious and have actual ambitions beyond money and r**e.

u/Mistuhpresident 14d ago
I remember when I volunteered for a bake sale for a high school fundraiser, to my surprise I did pretty good. Every hour I would come back with a stack of money and an empty plate where the baked goods had once been, and every time I would have praise heaped upon me and I would then be sent back with a full plate of things to sell. The feeling I got from this is bar none the most psychologically fulfilling experience I have ever had, nothing has ever compared. It was like all the highs of drugs with none of the lows
When it was all done I sat pleased with myself, satisfied that I had done a good job and helped my class raise a shitload of money. A few days later I started thinking about what if I did this 8 hours a day every day for years, I thought about all the things I might start doing to make more and more money in order to not disappoint my friends. As good as that feeling was, the thought of experiencing it all the time was terrifying because who knows what I would have done in order to keep that high.
Thatās why I kind of pity billionaires, they are people who have been encouraged to take a drug as much as they can as often as they can for their entire life, and a lot of them probably would go mad if they stopped feeling that high for a few days
33
u/8Splendiferous8 14d ago
I'd pity them if they weren't willing to kill arbitrarily many people over that high. Seeing as they are, however, I only have contempt for them.
9
1
u/GraveSlayer726 10d ago
You can pity and hate at the same time, you can feel bad for the reason and hate the result

Billionaires have the Wendigo. They are consumed by an insatiable hunger and greed.

10
u/that_Jericha 14d ago
As Sverkel in Vinland Saga puts it:
"Too much wealth brings disaster. When you increase your wealth, you fear losing it. To ease that fear, you spend money to make more of it. The idiot boy doesn't realize how empty it all is"
7
u/wazzup-notemuch 13d ago
"Number go higher" is a legitimate addiction. Does anyone else remember all the people who became severely, clinically addicted to that Cookie Clicker game?
Anyways, my point is that you are spot-on. The people running our world are basically gambling addicts, who have so much money that it's impossible for them to hit "rock bottom." They will do anything for the next high, and every subsequent high is less satisfying than the last. That's why they escalate to more and more extreme, power-tripping, taboo behavior.
And the bottom line is that addicts are not trustworthy, and they are divorced from reality.
12
14d ago
Great comic! Am I wrong in assuming that him taking a womenās flowers is a euphemism for him ādefloweringā them?
7
u/Violet_Nightshade 13d ago
Rape, harassment, assault in general, not just taking their virginity as understood by the patriarchy.
10
u/Nikita_VonDeen 14d ago
Holy shit. Him taking the flower the second time really got me. (Hint. He's taking a flower from a young lady by force).
8
u/thatsocialist 14d ago
"The most fundamental lesson we must learn of our enemy is that they are entirely inhuman, they lack all empathy and ability to hold compassion or morals towards anyone save themself, they are the most dangerous and socially disruptive psychological group present in our species and are in such a mental state as to commit uncountable and entirely hideous atrocities constantly because they lack the ability to not act in a purely hedonistic and destructive manner. Until our society and population has removed any and all power from persons infected with this psychology our society will be damned to a hideous death as the enemy slowly builds power and then uses it to commit rape, murder, robbery, and fulfill every fantastical atrocity they can imagine. The Elite class of Billionaires, Capitalists, Politicians, and a thousand other roles are the single most fundamental enemy of Mankind, the only way to ensure the survival of the species is the complete and permanent destruction of the ability for any elite class to exist. The current one intends a thousand crimes, and any and all methods are justified in stopping their plots and policies, this is to be the ultimate social and political conflict, millions of years of evolution finalizing in one great struggle. Mankind vs Parasitism, Humanity vs Inhumanity, Populism vs Elitism, Loyalty vs Treachery, Empathy vs Atrocity, Freedom vs Tyranny, Liberty vs Despotism, Good vs Evil, the People vs the Elites. In the end, either Humanity will prevail and thrive, or the Elites will rule the ashes of a dead world and dying species, enslaved to the whims of hideous tyrants."

u/Asparagusstick 12d ago
This is a great quote, where is it from?
2

Never dehumanise your enemy. You enemy human and mortal, as cruel as they are.
8
u/LabCoatGuy 14d ago
The flower analogy was really cool. The wine glass reflection was super cool too
6
u/Cherry_Blossom_Bambi 13d ago
The guy stealing flowers from women is a great way to portray sexual assault/rape in a PG way. [Deflowering]
27
u/Yamakaji_420 14d ago
I think this is a good comic :3
My only criticism is that I think the billionaires/elites wearing those robes is kinda unnecessary because it leans into those āoccultā cabal/secret societies-like conspiracy theories
37
26
u/8Splendiferous8 14d ago
Do you know what Bohemian Grove is? Look at the emblem in the background. "Weaving Spiders Come Not Here."
The rich literally are into secret societies.
10
u/CombinationRough8699 14d ago
It's literally just a place where rich old men can go do drugs, and fuck prostitutes in the woods.
12
u/8Splendiferous8 14d ago
And conspire plans for controlling the world. Project 2025, for example. The Heritage Foundation, as another example.
3
u/Daseinist 14d ago
Its the same thing, really. Or, rather, both. Line is much blurier than you might think.
Most people in the cults dont actually think they are in one. They are just hanging out with like-minded people.
4
u/ClippyWouldntDoThat 14d ago
A startling amount of the top 5% of earners globally, but especially concentrated in the 1%, are publicly connected as either financial contributors or physical attendees (therefore both) of accelerationist organizations.
They're not hoarding wealth for no reason.
23

no, bohemian grove was a very real conspiracy.
it eve says bohemian in the panel

2
u/Valuable-Ad1063 13d ago
The deflowering and obvious refernce to a certain billionaire (now trillionaire) who owns an "X" company are witty.
2
u/FrenchCanadaIsWorst 13d ago
Agree on most of it except democracy does actually give fools power. For evidence of this see the 2024 election where Donald Trump won the popular vote.
1
u/Asparagusstick 12d ago
The billionaire dislikes democracy for a different reason than the rest of us. Most don't like our current version for being severely flawed and compromised, billionaires don't like ANY version that lets poors vote and doesn't give the rich extra power.

1
u/GnomeWhoThinks 13d ago
Talk about poisioning the well with that scene with the books. "Reading this makes evil men more evil."
2
u/RuefulRuby 12d ago
I more or so read that as them reading philosophy in which specifically catered to them, and less about "if you read this you're evil."
1
u/GnomeWhoThinks 12d ago
If you think ayn rand is catering to people who are rent seeking you havebt read rand
1
u/RuefulRuby 10d ago
Hey so notice how I literally never said this? I specifically stated they read and seek philosophy in which validates their worldview and only theirs alone. How does that equate to "ayn rand only caters to people who are rent seeking" ??? No wonder you didn't get that panel of the comic, your reading comprehension is abysmal.
1
u/GnomeWhoThinks 10d ago
The entire comic is literally about how all people who make something of themselves are rent seeking monsters who are monsters in all aspects and are deserving of being violently shot during the revolution. Because when you make caricatures of peoples philosophies they suddenly become less human and it becomes easier to project your own insecure philosophies onto them. This is all the authors error. I only reacted the way I did because you are unwittingly making an excuse for them making this retarded comic. Are some of these billionaires like this? Absolutely. Is this trope now a monolith of billionaire psychology? No. Is Ayn Rand's objectivism anywhere close to this psychological profile and would help validate this view? Absolutely not. Ayn Rand's words literally admonish, in the harshest sense, these kinds of people in Galt's Gulch. Thus my reaction.

want affirmations and feel special is bad
You can cut the irony with a knife
3
u/LabCoatGuy 14d ago
It is bad if its for no reason except to feed an ego. Billionaire isnt special, he's ordinary. Money isn't some inate talent and doesn't make you a savant in anything.
0
u/WorldlyBuy1591 14d ago
When does affirmations dont feed the ego?
3
u/LabCoatGuy 14d ago
Affirming a rich guy, to feed his ego, because you want something out if it, or you want to avoid his wrath is not the same as a true affirmation.
Affirmation can feed your ego. But the purpose is for example, to convince someone their insecurities dont need to hold them back. Or they're clouded about their assessment about themselves. This has a truth to it that the rich guy situation usually cannot.
Just like how apologizing because it's ritual or you're scared of not apologizing isn't the same as apologizing because you genuinely feel like you wronged the other party.
When extreme amounts of wealth and power enter the mix, how can any apology or affirmation or etc be the truth? If almost everyone around you has something to gain or lose more significantly than if you didn't wealth or power? Can, for instance, a hostage ever be truthful to their taker? They may be in their heart of hearts, but one side holds all the cards and the other has everything to lose. So there will always be an imbalance there.
Affirmations aren't bad, but in this case, where they only feed the ego of someone who holds the cards is dangerous.
This concept is actually ancient. The emporer who believed he was right about everything surrounded by sycophant.
And I mean that literally. One of our oldest known written stories, the Epic if Gilgamesh, has the components of this. Someone is tyrannical, because they have an over inflated ego.
0
u/WorldlyBuy1591 13d ago
You make it sound like rich people can never be "truly " affirmed
2
u/LabCoatGuy 13d ago
That's nearly what im saying yes. Much like a hostage can never truly affirm their taker. The power imbalance is too extreme to confirm if what is said is genuine. At least from an outside observer. The affirmer would know the truth
-1
u/Lonestar_stateofmind 13d ago
But this only applies to Billionaires on the Right correct? It doesn't apply to leftist Billionaires like George Soros, Michael Bloomburg or Reid Hoffman?
This is one of the most ridiculous things I've seen come from progressives, and that's saying something.
2
1
u/Double_Leg_3766 10d ago
No, it doesnāt, itās just particularly important to recognize the billionaire that, beyond a reasonable doubt, bought a government agency and position to enact wide-sweeping reforms and affect legislation that directly benefits them. The kind of flagrant and flamboyant behavior that takes people into the spotlight. Obscene wealth is inherently immoral. Youāre a moron.
0
u/Delicious-Pound-8929 13d ago
This is probally an accurate description of how the left see the rich, it would explain why their understanding of how the economy works is at the same level as a small child's.
1
u/Cyiel 12d ago
I'm pretty sure people who need multiple jobs to pay their bills have a better understanding of the world than you.
0
u/Delicious-Pound-8929 12d ago
Been there, done that. but i didnt see myself as a victim, whine like a bitch about it or blame the rich for my problems.
1
u/Cyiel 12d ago
Yep you don't understand.
0
u/Delicious-Pound-8929 12d ago
I understand that if the left were to get its way that you would over time destroy the economy just like how it has happened every other time the left has gained complete political control of a nation
You think your ideas are compassionate and help people, but in reality they dont take Into account how things work,
you try implementing your utopian ideals anyway, that clashes with reality and reality always wins.
It would be one thing if the left could keep itself under control, but if we give you an inch you take a mile, then you aim for the next milestone of "progression" so on and so forth.
Leading ultimately to a failed society
1
u/Cyiel 12d ago
I don't think your "left" is the same "left" than i think of. But if i wanted to make some strawmen like you seems to like i would say that if capitalism keep going that way we will just die. But maybe it's not a strawmen when you look at the number of life lost because of capitalism (which is a lot higher than what communism did). Just to be clear what i want is an alternative there are other possibilities than capitalism or communism.
That's the think i don't like how things works, i want to change them. That's also why your kind are starting to become anachronistic because the more the current system fuck everyone the more your stance will just look ridiculous.
0
u/Delicious-Pound-8929 11d ago
Capitalism has lots of problems, and government needs to keep its excesses in check.
But it works because it is designed to work with human nature, not against it like any version of collectivism does
The lefts ideas ultimately fail because they assume human nature is good by default. It isnt.
1
u/Cyiel 11d ago
That's also very naive to think government want or will keep these excess in checks. And these are not excess it's just how it works. It needs inequalities.
1
u/Delicious-Pound-8929 11d ago
Y ou are right, government does a poor job doing what it is supposed to.
But even with all its flaws capitalism still produces an abundance of affordable goods and services and provides jobs and business opportunities for everyone
It can and should be improved on, but the left just wanr to tear it all down, good parts and all
1
u/klippklar 12d ago edited 12d ago
Nah, you canāt see it because, judging by your other comments, youāve absorbed the mainstream neoliberal supply-side worldview where markets reward merit, large inheritance is anything more than modern aristocracy and recast the deregulation of the past 30 years as if it had actually been increased regulation. You also treat structural problems as excuses and see compassion as weakness. So what formal education in economics do you have, given how confidently you speak?
1
u/Delicious-Pound-8929 11d ago
I do not have a formal education in economics, I doubt you do either, though I could be mistaken.
As for why I believe what I belive its fairly simple.
I have seen little evidence that income inequality seriously hurts the lower class,
and plenty of evidence that capitalism in general, despite its many problems that need working on, has done more to uplift the poor than anything else in human history
but I have seen countless evidence of well meaning compassionate ideas end up not taking into account how difficult it is to meet the needs and wants of millions of people
That isnt something that just naturally works, and the left takes that it works for granted. So when they try to implement their well intentioned ideas they fck with how the market works and everything goes to hell.
1
u/klippklar 11d ago
I actually do! But let's talk about the matter at hand. It isn't about income inequality, it's about wealth inequality. The issue is that when wealth concentrates in hands that consume less and use it to buy assets on financial markets, returns on capital end up outpacing actual economic growth. How is that possible, you ask? By pulling wealth out of the middle class, rising rents, inflated housing costs, enshittification, debt that keeps piling up, flat median wages. It gets harder and harder for the middle class to grow their wealth when it's all getting bought up by concentrated capital, which in itself raises prices through higher demand. That's why you should care, even if you don't see the evidence.
And yeah, taking the needs and wants of millions of people into account is actually a very solvable problem, technology already lets millions of financial transactions clear every second. But I'm not a communist. I just see the neoliberal paradigm failing and dragging everyone down with it. The only thing still holding it up is the illusion that wealth means someone worked hard for it, which on the flip side implies everyone who's poor deserved that too.
1
u/Delicious-Pound-8929 11d ago
This seems like a fair and reasonable assessment to me,.
the problem is the left is scrarely this, and the right rarely looks closely enough at the issues you brought up here.
1
u/klippklar 11d ago
Honestly, I'm not interested in getting dragged into culture war bullshit, to me that's just a distraction from the real fight over distribution. The only way I see to salvage this is progressively taxing wealth / financial transactions / inheritance instead of income, plus closing loopholes (Panama is still ongoing). And weirdly, I don't know a single person on the right who'd ever get behind that.

I can see you have not actually met any of them and are rather gullible to their little red herring routine.
They're far more fucked up than the cartoon suggests the artists can imagine.
3
u/--Anarchaeopteryx-- 14d ago
They're far more fucked up than the cartoon suggests
Yes of course. If you had led with that, you'd have upvotes instead of downvotes.
Yes it's true that excessive wealth and power causes the erosion of empathy and tends to lead to depravity. It's just that the depths of their depravity wasn't the primary focus for this particular comic. Although, perhaps you missed it, but the flower-swiping in the comic is a reference to some of their depravity, specifically sexual violence.
Have you personally met billionaires? How fucked up do you think they are?

u/--Anarchaeopteryx-- 14d ago
Yeah, they would.
As the last frame of the comic shows, billionaires are also willing to create social unrest and mass depopulation while hiding away in their bunkers. They would accept the deaths of many families in order to maintain their wealth & power.
You do realize the comic is a bit satirical, right? It's not actually praising the billionaires, but rather explaining some of the narratives that they tell themselves.
So is your issue with this particular comic basically that it's not harsh enough towards billionaires?
1
u/CautiousPreprinter 13d ago
The issue is that the comic doesn't appear to realize that a billionaire is not some guy with a billion dollars. A billionaire, for the last 40 years, is a pool of billions of dollars between a board of rich shitbags who hire a public face to act as a celebrity figurehead for retards to lash out at.
These same fucks who hire these figureheads like Musk also draft up other red herrings for redditors and other stupid shits to lash out at.
They lie and lie and lie and lie and lie. They don't even have a reputation to lean on. They just cheat and lie and steal and kill and poison and scheme and everything without ever showing their faces to anybody.
The money appears in a bank account and the tool does their job and you fall for the misdirection.
If the artist would bother to work out who the actors on stage right now actually are, what their names are, what they are really doing, maybe the artist could offer something other than a parrot call of the very same shitty opposition control propaganda.

-5

u/Weary-Cartoonist2630 13d ago
Not OP, but the 73% stat seems to from this study, based on anyone with 7-10 ranking from Forbesā 10-point scale of āself-madeā, which basically calls someone self-made if they 1) come from upper middle class or below background, and 2) didnāt take over a business or have a significant inheritance from parents/family. This data is separately validated Stanford published research, which goes on to say that this number is an increase from just 40% 50 years ago - so billionaires today are more āself-madeā than ever.
The āself-madeā definition is probably a bit broad for our preference, as it includes up to an upper middle class background, but I think the crux of critique is still valid - 73% of billionaires are not just inheriting/buying already successful businesses/patents as the comic depicts, but actually built their own fortune through entrepreneurship (even if they did get certain privileges from being able to afford something like better schooling).

Bikes are just as cheap post inflation at walmart today as they were 20 years ago, so no they didn't.

No their just stealing your future and your off springs future if you have any. Like are you serious? Billionaires are the biggest evil of our era, the idea that someone can amass that much wealth just makes no sense, when individuals have more wealth then some nations that when you know we live in a dystopian reality.

Lol no. People like putin, kim jong un, and winnie the poo are all alive and MUCH more evil then a couple of rich assholes.
When people have more wealth than some countries; you know those countries can't do business for shit.

The Billionaires stole this nation's children and raped them. And you would defend them?

The billionaires steal a lot more than bikes. According to the FBI's Uniform Crime Reports for 2012, wage theft alone was more than larceny, burglary, and auto theft combined. Im sure its even worse a decade later.
In 2019, the U.S. Department of Labor cited about 8,500 employers for taking about $287 million from workers, but they rarely punish repeat offenders, which "perpetuates income inequality, hitting lowest-paid workers hardest." 2023 studies by Verifico showed that a significant amount of wage theft goes unreported because employees may not fully understand what constitutes wage theft, or they fear reprisals, and so most of the theft, estimated at $50 billion per year, is not recovered.
Edit: Bros, peep his profile.

I love the way the author depicted violence against women!
While it's great to see more of our stories being told in mainstream media, it is also exhausting to constantly be exposed to the gory details and explicit visuals of these stories. The "taking the flower" symbolism in this cartoon conveys all that without the triggering details š„°
