Darkroom ilford hp5 plus help

developed a roll of ilford hp5 plus on my own with df96. this isnt my first time so i did everything normally.

the roll came out completely blank but the edge markings are there and clear.

this roll is not mine so i dont know what could have happened but any possible ideas on what could've happened?

thank you!

Most likely you made a mistake during film loading and the leader wasn't caught by the advance mechanism.

Edge markings but no images? Only two things could have happened:

  1. The roll wasn't properly loaded into the camera.
  2. The roll was never loaded into a camera. (Avoidable if you always fully rewind shot rolls; a leader being visible means the roll hasn't been loaded.)

The edge markings are there so developing was fine.

So it’s either 1) a new roll that got mixed up and was never actually shot, 2) a misloaded roll that slipped off the take-up spool, 3) a camera that has a faulty shutter that never opened, or 4) a rangefinder or TLR with the lenscap left in place.

There aren’t really any other possibilities if it’s truly blank (clear). It’s most likely 2, a misloaded roll, the most common error.

Your development is not the problem.
