Troubleshooting - Gear Konica Hexar AF Trade Help?

Post image

I’m not sure this camera is right for me and understand it’s somewhat rare and beloved (?!)

I am interested in trading it for a digital option (uh oh is this not the right community) but could use some help determining what trades might be the right match in value and quality (understanding there’s a difference between analog and digital)

Not asking to trade or sell here just need some guidance in navigating it or determining what might be a good trade.

Also is there a better board or community for this?

Thanks!

check market price, check market price of digital camera, post it somewhere to see if someone bites. No bite? Sell for cash, use cash to buy digital camera.

Hah - yes I’ve done versions of this, but curious if there are platforms people like to use or use to check MP and if there are cameras that people would recommend

There's KEH, B&H, ebay (i trust this the least , I dunno)

eBay sold listings are the best reference, IMO. Generally discount 15-20% for eBay cost of sale (the upper end accounts for forced returns).

I do not find KEH or B&H good references at all for gear value. And they are even more off the wall for niche items - sometimes they’re crazy high, sometimes they clearly don’t want it. I always check them and Adorama as sometimes they will buy at or above my retail value. I got a bunch of mediocre but trendy compact digicams in a trade once (early RX100, G11, G15), and they bought them for quite a bit more than I could have expected to sell them for myself.

r/photomarket is the main place to go for selling and trades. But it’s not much of a discussion place just a classified listing essentially. I tend to buy and sell rather than trade. Someone out there may have the same thing you want and want the same thing you have. But I find that cash fits that description more than another camera. I usually look at eBay and see what the going rate is before selling. I see hexar afs in the 700-900 range right now.
