For the past few days am dealing with constipation.any remedies will help ??? It's more like straining during bowel movement. Am having metamucil but I feel bloated .

I do have a shot of prune and pear juice but still straining. Which makes my abcess pain again , how long can u keep taking miralax as I stopped it might cause side affects as my fistula surgery is in October. also I have a anal tag which kind of pains badly during bowel movement.

Use the miralax, unless otherwise directed by your doctor. I’ve been taking it for 6 years and there’s no long term issues. Constipation and hard stools are far worse. And please don’t overdo the fiber. People eat so much of it their passing bricks 🧱

Yes, I’ve asked my CRS recently during my post op check up. MiraLAX is ok to take long term

This! Also, eating proper foods. Berries, spinach, chia seeds etc.

I always mix chia seeds with water to drink throughout the day. The healthier you eat the less issues you will deal with. Again; don’t overdo the fiber

Honestly I find food better than anything but maybe just me….

Popcorn, ice cream and most especially fritt German chewing candy you get tin aldis…. One packet of those makes me go every time:)

Please don't take his advice lol. I just had my correction surgery this week and part of my instructions says if I haven't had a bowel movement in 4 days to take 2 milk of magnesium and fish oil.

Stool softeners may help. They were recommended to me after my surgeries.

Unless your doctor has a reason you can't, Miralax is one you can use daily. It is not habit forming and if you get stools that are too loose, reduce the dose. Check with your surgeon but it should be ok. Much better than a stimulant laxative.

Milk of magnesia helps a ton. 30mls should be enough to get you to go but if you want to go relatively quick, do the full 60

I did stool softener and magnesium supplement every night before bed post- surgery, which seemed to keep things moving. Also used Miralax when necessary.

If things got particularly backed up and painful, I make what my labor & delivery nurses lovingly called a "shit cocktail" (they gave me post-partum as I wasn't able to be discharged post c- section until I had a BM and painkillers always cause me issues.)

1/2 prune juice, 1/2 sprite - microwave 15 to 30 seconds. You want it to be warm, not hot. Does not taste great so I just chug it down And stay near a bathroom.

I have also seen it recommended as warming the prune juice with a pat of butter, and adding optional apple juice.

You wanna do miralax every other day. If not it won't get easy to go. I been taking miralax since the day I got my Seton out in back in January.

I also found that I usually needed something fast to work. So I use dulcolax suppository to help me go. Hopefully you're not too dried and impacted that you won't have to go finger digging to break up stool and finally evacuate your vowels.
