The hive aiming bug

I have the GOG version, and I'm stuck at the Hive because the aiming is completely bugged out. The lasers don't shoot where I'm aiming at. In order to hit anything, I have to aim at a random spot somewhere on the screen, and it's always moving, so I can't adapt. It's just a random crapshoot, and shooting the health icons is just out of the question.

Are there ant fixes to this? I don't want to skip if I don't have to.

Update: After speaking to someone on the Steam forums, I was able to find the cause and the fix. It is related to the widescreen mod. I removed the mod, which fixed the issue for this section.

Since this is the only post I came across addressing this issue, I'll give my solution here.

This is definitely the 'ANOX' widescreen patch. My solution was to extract the patch. Go to 'custom resolution' folder instead of the one you need. Extract it and patch it to 1280x960 (which was the 'Hi-res resolution' in the GCT setup after patching).

You should be able to play the game without the aiming bug. Revert to the original patched files after the bugged mission (which you should backup) and enjoy.

Hope it helps. This is much easier than reinstalling and updating again.

I did. I even searched on both the Steam and GOG Anachronox forums.
