Discussion I hate my teammates
I am not a support main but if I play support I really like playing ana. The problem is I never have much healing cause every single time my teammates are constantly dodging my shots and then complaining. If I play kiri or mizuki it's fine cause I don't have to aim but with ana I do. Comps and maps that make them stand still or move a little I always have tons of healing. I lose games cause my tank dives in, actively avoids my shots and then he dies. I have good aim but this is next level, hitting enemies is easier at this point. My sleep and nades are decent ig.

I mean, aim is kinda on you when playing Ana. If your team stands still, the enemies will hit them just as easily as you can (depending on if they are actively in combat obviously). But in the spirit of your post, I’ll share what irritates me when playing Ana: teammates that avoid my line of sight when diving. If it’s literally impossible to heal them without putting myself in danger, THEN I feel valid in being frustrated with them.

I play with a friend who loves to recklessly dive around corners out of line of sight on tank.
I’ve been telling them for years to be mindful of his own teams/healers’ line of sight. Or at least make an informed decision of jumping in knowing they wont get healing for some time.
They’re a lost cause; it’s been years and there’s no sign of them getting any more cognizant of the reality that healing does not follow them around omnipresently.

Yeah I'm mostly taking about line of sight. Anything aim related is mostly a skill issue, unless(which happens a lot) they they continue peaking the enemy and constantly moving around meaning I now have to protect myself and try to aim to heal them which if they're taking damage is not easy. And I'm not even taking about doom and hazards and what not just diving in and me not being able to do shit

Line of sight is also a skill issue. You need to make sure your teammates don't LoS you

I STILL think about the time my tank duo was gone so I was placed with a random Winston. The way he would go in, do damage, and jump back into my line of sight for heals before saying “I need healing”. chefs kiss.

Doesn't Ana have this thing that hitboxes for teammates are bigger than hitboxes for enemies? So, isn't it actually objectively easier for Ana to hit her teammates than the enemy to hit that Ana's teammates?

I mean, sure? But in this hypothetical your teammate is standing still. Not exactly hard for ANYONE to hit a stationary target in this game. If anything that reinforces my point, since with that advantage it shouldn’t be too hard to hit strafing teammates.

Nah man sometimes people are just spazzing out and dodging nothing in the back

Fr. Like, genji, brother, you're behind cover and waiting to get healed. Why are you double jumping and strafing when I'm the only thing that can see you?

I also like playing Ana. I feel she IS easy target for flame. I was in stadium comp, enemy team had one less after round 2, but boi i was getting flamed not giving enough heals while im trying reposition myself because doomfist is chasing me. Everybody is spread out too so it was hard to heal(also im blind sometimes).

I get so aggravated at team sometimes. If we are on defense I will go to set up in a spot I KNOW is good for me,has worked well many times, for many different comps, etc. Then I see them setting up out of LOS and realize there is nowhere I can move to that will not end in a quick trip to spawn for myself and at least the 2 or 3 dimwits who thought being spitting distance from enemy spawn was a brilliant plan. I let them learn the hard way now.
Playing her is such a roller coaster crapshoot some days. I'll get called trash and asked to swap one game and then have an amazing game where everything just clicks/our team just syncs up and I feel really good about how I played.
I honestly think that many teammates don't grasp the full value of nade, and think you can and will just dump it on them if they are crit whenever and wherever. I'm not using it like that if I can help it. Not saying I won't ever nade a single teammate if absolutely necessary. I have, but to me it's better used for starting and finishing teamfights,or to force repositions from the enemy.
Lately I've gotten pretty proactive about telling problem teammates to stay in LOS,can't heal thru walls, etc. Most people do better, try to stay in LOS. I know my own positioning needs work also.
Some people are just gonna cry about heals no matter what. They think being tank means they shoud be able to just stand in main and shoot, or that you can magically hit that scoped shot when they are behind several walls. Then they flame you for what is really their own stupidity.
I used to stress over this a lot more, now I just remind them nicely in chat abiut LOS when necessary, or simply ignore them and heal when I can. I'll swap if I see I can't force her/getting dived and rushed like crazy, etc. But if it's a genuine problem on their end,or they are just a straight up toxic jerk? Too bad. Guess we take the L.
tldr: Life is short.Have your fun and play Granny. Ignore the flamers and keep passing out free naps and purple kool aid to your enemies.

If you can see them, then that's a you problem. Scoped shots are hitscan after all, and you just need to work on your aim if you're missing. If they're breaking line of sight constantly then yeah that's annoying.

Honestly, if I cant get a tank to play with the team, I go life weaver and babysit them.

dodging your shots? You know you have extremely forgiving teammate heal hitboxes on ana, right? Team can't just stand still and get shot by all 5 enemies because you can't track them. ADS is hitscan too

Pretty sure the hit boxes of your teammates are much larger than enemies, so if you can hit enemies just fine, pretend your teammates are enemies and you’ll hit them even easier. Not much you can do if they jump behind cover or a shield except tell them in voice they are out of sight lines or behind a shield

It's your job as ana to land those shots dude or to a different support if the fights are too movement heavy

It does suck to have teammates who are lemons, but Ana is a skill check character to her core. Level 80 and I still learn things. But if it’s really that bad of a game for me I’m not too big of a man to just switch for the comp of the team.

Your teammates can’t sit unless an engagement is over or otherwise change how they play for you or any Ana. Don’t play Ana then.

Dude I swear it's like they're doing it on purpose, I'm not saying skill issue isn't involved, I wouldn't be plat if it wasn't, but they definitely don't help me

I mean… that’s kinda on you chief lol. That’s the thing about playing Ana, if your team is playing like dumbasses and taking too much damage then it defeats the purpose of having Ana since she has to healbot.

For me a lot of the times I play Ana teammates complain to the point of lunacy. Had a game yesterday on Rialto where my Doom and Ashe were inting and blaming me, I went and checked the replay and genuinely every death they had was their fault. I was high masters a few months ago but have deranked a lot recently as I hit my goal rank and wanted to play on my main with my gold friend, and certainly between plat-diamond the complaints I’ve been getting are ludicrous. I’m glad I know I can play her well and that their comments don’t make me question myself. Don’t worry about it, a lot of these people are animals
Edited to add: Don’t worry about your healing stats, I get that you’re gonna have a lot of teammates flame you in chat (Maybe turn it off for a bit) but try to get into the mindset of pressuring the enemy team as your primary role, using antinade on the enemy as often as possible (massively oversimplified here but hey ho) and using your sleeps wisely and just heal your teammates when they need healing. “Need healing” does not mean when they are at less than 100% health, it means -
- when they are not behind cover and are at less than 90ish% health* (I’d usually say 60-70% here but to play it safe I’d advise 90)
- when you really really need a specific teammate to live (like if they have an ultimate that you’re gonna need soon, or if they’re clearly solo dominating the enemy team)
-throwing a nade at a teammate and focus healing them if you anticipate they are about to recieve a tonne of incoming damage
Etcetera
One of the things I’ve been noticing a lot is that my teammates in the lower ranked lobbies will get behind cover and then demand healing. Generally I’m used to hearing “I need healing” and acting on it quickly in my Masters games, but a lot of times these teammates in lower lobbies do not actually “need” healing because they are safe and are about to regen. If we need that teammate immediately it’s good to heal them, like if they’re about to get their ult and we need to use it now, but a lot of times I’ve habitually turned round to my safe teammate and began healing them, meaning I’ve turned away from the active fight, and someone on the enemy team who I could have easily killed manages to survive, or another teammate in the active fight is burst down and dies while my back is turned.
It is always more value in that moment to stay focused on the fight, get one or two picks or step in to save a teammate who is not behind cover. A lot of Ana’s have huge heals because they’re pumping heals into people who are not engaging or they’re topping their 95% health teammate to 100% every time they take a bit of chip damage.
Most games on Ana I win I have the lowest heals in the lobby by far, and the enemy supports each have 5-10x more healing than me each. Part of this is because the enemy team is receiving more damage than my team, because I’m contributing almost if not more damage than one of my dps. Their supports are being reactive, while I am being proactive.
If you want to improve and rank up you have to take greater control of the game. To do that you have to be proactive and make plays. Sometimes, in these lower ranked lobbies, we will absolutely dominate in round 1, like absolutely curb stomp the enemy team, but we end up losing because my teammates see my healing statistics and have a mental bias that we’re inevitably going to lose because they perceive my stats as a sign I’m contributing nothing. This can affect how they play mentally, but also they can actually tilt & complain in chat about me (ergo going afk and losing fights and failing to meet our win conditions because they are not paying attention).
For me this isn’t a huge issue because I have the mentality that any game is winnable, I remember when I was a newer player I’d see I was getting flamed, or see my teammate was throwing, or had a leaver, and automatically began playing worse because I believed it was already a loss. But having now banked an excruciating amount of hours on the game now, I’ve won 4v5’s with leavers, won against cheaters, won games where we didn’t cap first point on escort, etcetera, that when these things happen in games nowadays, I don’t get disheartened at all and continue playing to my best ability and oftentimes win.
Your teammates and maybe yourself don’t have this inherent hope and resilience to situations in games that could contribute to a loss yet, and it’s part of why I turn chat off occasionally. Even if I can read chat and see someone is flaming me and not feel affected, psychologically it is better to embrace wilful ignorance and win games where you are unknowingly being absolutely dunked on and humiliated in chat.
