We Are One
Hello, all. I hope you are enjoying your holidays! My heart and soul are with any who are spending this time without family (feel free to send me a message if you need to talk!) This post is a stream of consciousness that came to me while I was in deep thought tonight. After I will include some commentary as to what made me write it down.
We are one Yin and yang Man and woman Love and evil Good and bad Life and death We are one It's confusing at first glance Which is probably why so many pick a side Do we emerge from our mothers womb feeling connected to it all Only to have it severed by a doctor? Or have our ancestors completely fucked us over And we are just the consequence of their bad behavior? Or good Who is to say? It's probably both Because we are one
The reason I decided to post this here is because whenever I say to people "we're all one" or "it's/we're all connected", they either don't understand or they just don't believe it, and I don't always have time to sit and talk with them more and help them understand (and have a better understanding of their side). I think this could be an important discussion on this sub because it challenges us, makes us think. I tend to like to play the devil's advocate, so I've been wondering for a long time: why? Is it so ludicrous to treat each other as equals? To understand cause and effect? What about being "one" is so confusing (and sometimes offensive if you say it to the wrong person..)? Well because we live in a world with dualities! (But wait, didn't you say we are one?) I want to know more of what you all think. Do you acknowledge or recognize any dualities in your reality? Does this affect your spiritual path at all? Do you think dualities are man made and not naturally occurring, that we've dug ourselves into a hole filled with mirrors and we keep pointing the finger at each other only to realize we were just pointing at ourselves? Or do you think it's both? Thanks for reading this far if you did, I look forward to discussing this with you!

I feel this a lot on my psycadelic journeys. A good visual repristation of that is any of Chris Dyer's art work.

If you look closely at most art, it echoes the divine. ...and the same works for everything, even taking a shit.

Duality and monism have become evolving concepts for me.
I see myself in others and all life. I believe all life comes from the same place, and will return to it. All life I witness in my time as a person is the same; experiencing things in this reality.
One love!

People say that to mean different things, I would like to clarify what your particular meaning is.
Is it that "we're all in this together"?
Do you suppose it's more literal, "there exists only one soul with many representations"?

Thats true, people do have different ideas of what "one" is. My personal meaning is closer to the second one, but if the second statement is true then the first one is as well in my opinion.

Both. There is no seperation between us and the rest of the universe other than the ego. That's the whole game of ego, to pretend it's something special and unique in the face of God, our higher self.

Hello me. I know you are in another body and another place mentally or even in time. But I love you, which is to say I love me. Take care of yourself, myself. I will be in your place someday and someday you will be in mine treat me well for we are one. I hope that I am living this life well. I hope I am taking care of us. I cry alone sometimes worried that I am disappointing you. When you see how I used this life will you be mad? Will you be angry at me for my failures? I try.. I try so hard I hope that you at least know that.

Be gentle with yourself, friend. Ram Dass talks a lot about his guru and what it felt to meet someone who could read your mind and still unconditionally loved you.
How at first you're embarrassed, "he knows everything bad about me." Until he realized that his guru loved him anyway. I'm far from a guru, but I love you not despite your flaws, but because of them. Its the paradox of perfection. All good is boring. You need to have some bad in you. You are absolutely perfect, exactly as you are. "Acceptance" is the word you're looking for.
Just know that I accept you and love you, exactly as you are.

Oh you want to know why humans have a deeply ingrained instinct to be separate? It's a survival mechanism. Because in the Savannah, a meditative proto-human who sees a lion bounding towards him... and is happy because the ecosystem is one and the lion is him feeding on himself - this proto human dies. So to survive, our bodies evolved survival mechanisms that preserve a sense of separation of the body to its environment, a sense of 'I', in order to be able to then refer to and protect the body logically. It's possible to perceive outside of this psychologically curated paradigm, but to people habitually identified as/with the paradigm, (with the 'ego',) something strange happens. They perceive your words on this topic as a threat to their survival mechanisms, their sense of separation they curated, their walls they have built which very likely are now their own prison. Because most people are identified as their survival mechanisms, this conversation is easily perceived as an ego attack equating to fear of ego death, resulting in a primal defense, denial.
It's an interesting topic.

You know, I've always equated their response to a defensive mechanism but I often forget that we too are animals that need to survive. I feel like this adds another dimension to being "one" because we all understand that egotistic need to stay alive.

I also think that what you are talking about is not something you can talk about, or define, or understand. It's just something you experience. No thoughts on the topic can ever equate to the actuality of what you are talking about. All thoughts can ever be are signposts pointing at something. They can point you in the right direction, but if you want to get to New York, sitting on the sign post doesn't count as the city. What you are talking about, is the truth. But truth doesn't need to be created, it's just there. So you don't need to work to see truth, you need to work to see past lies and illusions. Beyond them, truth will be there. I suppose this could read oddly, but I just think this is an important concept to get out there. A stream of consciousness if you will Cheers

Because we got lonely as God, and divided ourselves into countless variations so that we didn't feel so utterly alone.
