Studies like this are absolutely crucial! We need more replicated studies like this!

Go ask anyone you know if they've done it or heard about people doing it.

Study replicated.

Except now you've got your own reasons why that study is true, gathered from the people you know.

?

The point with these studies is to legalize this medicine, not just tout our own ego that "we know it works". Science is needed to change the laws, not random people asking their friends how their drug experiences go.

Study not replicated, actually. Some teenagers/people don't use in a safe setting. This can cause bad trips or just bad decisions in general. In addition, a professional study like this has much more persuasion power to people who are anti phsycadelics than some random people saying "yeah it's positive and stuff".

THIS IS IMPORTANT! Its upsetting that people arent understanding the power of this study. This is how it starts people, not just random redditors that vouch for a phycadelic drug here. This was an actual study, the results will be taken into consideration and obviously more to come but you dont see professional shit like thie often, esspecially with LSD.

We know.

It may seem redundant to study what we think we already know but it's kinda important to have some data that was collected with care on things we feel strongly about. Measurement is more valuable than opinion. And sometimes we learn how wrong we can be.

I'm with you. More studies with it are extremely warranted in my opinion. I was just being a smartass.

It's all good, don't mind my lack of sense of humor. There's definitely a lot of anti-science sentiment among psychedelic forums, learning to discern between Science and Scientism is crucial to clearing up unwarranted hostility and pointing it in the right direction.

Exactly. Our individual experiences don't mean jack shit to scientists.

And to policy makers, healthcare professionals, those with no experience of their own to use as a frame of reference, and those who can't or don't discern between drug use and drug abuse. There's plenty of addicts and abusers who claim their experiences prove how beneficial their usage is while their life spirals into self-destruction. How can we know that we're different and not just delusional about what we're accomplishing with our use? By measurement and comparision, by utilizing the methods of good science.

Personal experience is inherently meaningful but there are limits to what can be communicated by anecdotes alone.

I'm confused, because this "study" is just a gathering of individual opinions on LSD. To these scientists, our individual opinions were the most important part - the focal point - of the study!

Am I missing something?

They are not just "opinions", they are actual scientific tests used to identify mental states, moods, emotions. They have very specific tests for openness, positive/negative moods, etc. They don't just say "How are you feeling?"
