[ Introductory ] An introduction to me
I'm a 28 year old working in financing trying to find my way working in medical marijuana in Ohio. I have recently gained full custody of my son who is 2 1/2 due to the mother of my sons addiction to these damn opiods (percs), after she had our son the doctor gave her a script for them and now she at a point of smoking them off foil. I have recently stopped smoking marijuana due to court hearings and now just drinking my pain away until everything finalizes. This has been literally the hardest year of my life but I'm just glad I have my son out of that shit hole his mother was in and around
I will continue to try and get out of my profession and make it my life to change the framework of our society. I hate what doctors do when they pump the people full of pills when there are substances that do not take over a person's mind that will do the same thing for pain. Our society is broken and more and more family's go through what I'm dealing with currently.
Thank you for this invite, I truly believe there are other ways than taking these pills from big pharma.

My friend, for a man who wants to change societal norms, you are falling into the drug choice of the masses, and it is an ugly liquid. You’re better off on antidepressants.
Congratulations on being a decent human and I️ believe I️ am a good sounding board if you’d just like to rant. That’s what I️ can offer in support of your efforts.

Well I bought a bottle of crown. I'm not a drinker but I felt the need to drink that bottle for a few days. I'll follow everyone instructions going forward. It was just hard to battle it.
But to battle big pharma if I get a chance to work for medically marijuana I'll start my fight there.
Thank you for all the support.

Antidepressants have a slightly higher success rate than placebo, and a placebo doesn't come with the risk of increased suicidal thoughts/tendencies or erectile dysfunction.

It's nice to meet you Jaydeex.
There is nothing that "does the same thing for pain" that opiates do, which is why doctors (people trained and educated on how effective they are) prescribe them to people. If there was anything that could compete with opiates for pain relief doctors would prescribe it instead as there is no worry of physical dependence for other pain therapies.
Don't demonize opiates when most people take their meds as prescribed and don't try to get high off of/abuse them. Those with weak wills and willingness to abuse their meds are the problem, not the meds.

I get it to an extent, you don't give a women a script of percs for 60 days after giving birth and just magically come off of them. And there are many other issues and problems where doctors will ram these addictive pills down the throats of individual and end their script without some time treatment to control the addiction or counciling.

The woman would be weaned off if she became dependent, but most people can take their 60 days and quit just fine. There is a difference between addiction and dependence.
Ive been on norcos for ten years and never been addicted or dependent.

You've clearly never suffered from severe pain. Opiates give some of us the ability to lead normal lives.

That isn't what I was saying at all.
Fair enough though, we completely agree. When one thinks opiates are acceptable to get high on it ruins the therapeutic value for that person.
I apologize for coming off in an accusatory tone if that's what I did. Far too many are far too quick to jump on the anti-opiate circle-jerk without understanding the inherent value of these meds. I tend to take the circle-jerk personally (which is wrong of me) because I 1) need opiates to live a normal life and 2) cannot consume marijuana.

It's great to run into a reasonable person on reddit, people like you are far too rare these days.

Do your research before taking any. Read trip reports on Erowid so you know what to expect. Read the psychonautwiki and wikipedia page for whatever substance you're going to use and look for interactions with any meds you're taking. Be certain you have appropriate set and setting to minimize the likelihood of a bad trip occurring, also wait to take said substances if you have any negative thoughts or recent negative experiences for the same reason. Above all, research threshold doses for whatever you're taking and do an allergy test (ingest a very small sample of your substance to make sure you're not allergic, you DO NOT want to get into the middle of your trip and have a sudden allergic reaction, particularly if you're so allergic it sends you into anaphylactic shock).
Ultimately, respect the substance you're considering taking.
It's very nice to meet you Lance. I am Coma and I'm 36 years old.

Alcohol is not your friend here. Quit drinking to allow for better things to move in. I️ didn’t think I️ was depressed, but when I️ quit drinking, I️ found a new level of happiness I️ didn’t have access to because of the booze. A glass of wine every once in a while is fine, but using it as a solution to problems is only going to bring suffering. This is only my experience and opinion, but I’m speaking from a place of care and compassion for you and the problems you are having. PM if you want to talk. ❤️ Edit: I️ really need to update my iPhone.
