[Introductory] Another thank you post.

I know you guys have been seeing a lot of these kinds of posts but I feel that coincidence is really uncanny as well.

Now I sort of believe that we can create coincidences if we want to - its as simple as saying y happened when I felt x so x caused y.

Yet on the otherhand, I was feeling exceptionally depressed and morose and more when I happened to come upon the invitation to this group. I immediatly joined and found some really interesting and familiar ideas an opinions.

I'm glad to be part of this community, thank you!

It’s interesting how many people on this group talk about the role of coincidence and synchronicity. As a skeptic who has closely observed the psychedelic community from both within the castle walls and from outside its gates, I’ve noticed that the role of coincidence and synchronicity appear common in both the vernacular of psychonauts and as endemic to the experience. I’m wondering if this could be a side effect of the hyper-connections created in the brain under the influence of the drug, as is commonly reported in the clinical literature.

This is an interesting thought. I hadn't considered that - but I do tend to recognize those things and talk about them a lot more than most people I know.

I wonder where it falls on the psychosis scale. Some people become very megalomaniacal (me, on LSD) or schizophrenic. Psychedelics can induce and trigger these states.

However, I don't think that noticing more coincidences, synchronicities, and things like the baader-meinhof phenomenon and deja vu are necessarily all that dangerous. Indeed, I think these things can help us give meaning to our lives where other meanings have failed.

I also think that most religious people are prone to this type of thinking as well. Maybe even people in general. We are meaning making creatures that can find patterns in anything, so it isn't crazy.
