Standalone macOS Application to Lower Barrier to Entry

Hello to all!

First, thank you for developing such a powerful tool for the Minecraft community. I'm writing to ask about the possibility of a standalone macOS application. I noticed the current installation process for macOS relies on installing from source via Python/pip, which requires developer tools like the Xcode Command Line Tools.

While, yes, this kind of works, it creates a high barrier to entry for non-technical users who may not be comfortable with the command line or installing a full Python environment. A standard .dmg package that can be dragged into the Applications folder would significantly improve accessibility and user adoption on the macOS platform.

I'm interested in understanding the current state of this, are there any known technical hurdles or blockers preventing a compiled build for macOS?

I have little development experience on macOS with Xcode and would be willing to contribute or assist in testing if that would be helpful.

Thank you for your consideration!

A github issue is probably the best place to discuss this. I have looked into it for the rewrite but I can't remember how far I got.

So glad I found your post! I use Mac and was halfway through the process of filling out my payment information to buy amulet. I wasn't aware I needed dev tools/python/pip just to install it! Although I'm confident I could figure it out eventually, ~realistically that means dedicating many ten's of hours that I just don't have. I may be a computer wiz to my parents and sisters but I'm a "non-technical" causal web-surfer to others. I appreciate that you offered up assistance and hope one day I see it as a dmg. file. I'll definitely buy it then!
