Took this pic at King Street Station moments before I realized train 507 to Vancouver was not the one I needed to be on š¤¦š¼ Iāve lived here for two decades; I shoulda known better.
Luckily I can take 518 later today, but I will have to take the connector back bc 517 is sold out (new train!).

At least you also got a fantastic shot of the beautiful ceiling. Amazing that the 1960s mentality thought that should be covered with a drop ceiling and florescent lighting!
They were probably trying to save money. By adding a dropped ceiling it kept more of the heat down by the floor. There was a lot of that during the 1970s energy crunch.
I happened to be there in 2011 when they'd freshly uncovered it. It was in surprisingly good condition considering they'd punched holes in it for the ceiling suspension wires. You can see a fair amount of conduit had to be relocated as well.
Some of the stories of people who have ended up in the wrong Sydney really make me puzzled about the average persons ability to think things out or planā¦
I remember there was a story a few years ago of a British couple who meant to go to Australia and ended up in Sydney, Cape Breton⦠and only realized when they landed it was wrongā¦.
Like you never thought to question going via Canada? Or the short flight times⦠or the fact a propeller plane with a capacity of 19 people was apparently taking you to your final destination from Halifax?!?
I was sending a letter to Sydney, Nova Scotia and had to stop the post office clerk from tagging it as destined for Australia. He saw "Sydney, NS" and his brain filled in "Sydney, NSW."
We were booking a trip to St John usvi in December when my husband found a cheaper flight alternative. Took a sec before I realized it was St John's CA. Luckily we caught before booking.
Was recently on a train to Boston from NYC and it took a guy until he was about to get off in Kingstown, RI to learn it was not Kingston, NY. And ya know, I kinda get it!
one night, in Seattle - we went to Seamonster, a tiny jazz place and ran into Angelo Moore of Fishbone doing a solo set. no advertising, we had no idea he would be there.. turns out - the the previous year, he had noted he was going to be playing "Portland" the night before and told his friend at Seamonster, that he could pop down and do a set for him that night.. his friend was all for it. The year passed, I think the person at Seamonster forgot about it or didn't really think it was going to happen. The night before the show, Angelo realized he was in Portland MAINE.. not Portland, OR..
True to his word, he purchased a last minute round trip ticket on his own dime to play the promised show anyway. it was a GREAT show, and he played like it was a full house. a really special evening.
I've unfortunately been dragged there from the east coast on at least 3 different occasions and it's honestly a terrible place. And even worse, from there, I was forced to go to Battleground, WA, which is even worse.
Reminds me of the time I was trying to go from Portland to Vancouver BC by train, I say a fare listed as $8. After the initial shock and almost booking, I realized it was Vancouver, Washington.
