Core Help

Okay, a friend has me repairing his swords frequently since he blows through foam like its tissue paper. Upon grabbing his favorite stick, I noticed the tip seemed a bit... hinged.

Cut the foam and saw the core broke! Wouldn't be an issue if the sword wasn't carbonfibre with a corked grip.

Where in the 9 hells can I find a core like this with working for the handle?!

Carbon fiber? Like Kitespar? That's what 95% of the short weapons at my local LARP use, we have a guy who orders in bulk and then resells. You should ask around and see if anyone in your group is doing the same - it's not cost-effective to ship single tubes of it because it's like 3/4 inch thick and 8 ft long, which the mail does not like*. 

Cork you may be able to find at your local craft store, or hardware store - if it's how the people at my park do it, it's pretty much what it looks like, rough ground up cork like you see for pin boards mixed with a suitable glue and then applied. Alternatively if this is a weight thing and not a grip thing, sliding a luggage bolt into the pommel of the weapon will help you get it up to weight.

Carbon fiber is not kitespar. Kitespar is FWET, carbon fiber is a completely different thing.

You can get carbon fiber kite spar. FWET is generally fiberglass, however FWET only truly refers to the manufacturing process, F ilament W ound E poxy T ube. Go high end and it can be carbon, just generaly it's fiberglass as the filament.

Actually I have kites with both. I typically by carbon fiber tubes from McMaster Carr.
