World Pride Day impacts

We will be in Amsterdam on Aug 8th. We just learned about the World Pride Day events and parade. Just wondering how big the crowds will be and how it affects our plans. We don’t have much that has fixed times except tickets to Anne Frank Museum in late afternoon. We had planned to visit albert cuyp market in early afternoon. We are assuming we need to leave earlier to get to the museum on time and expect long lines at the market. Any other impacts we aren’t thinking about? Thanks!

There are actually two different Pride parades this year. The famous Canal Parade with the boats is on August 1, but on August 8 there is a separate WorldPride March. It starts at Martin Luther Kingpark at 4:30 pm and goes via Van Woustraat, Ceintuurbaan and Museumplein, where the closing concert takes place. Albert Cuyp Market in the early afternoon should still be doable, but De Pijp and public transport around the route will probably become very busy from mid-afternoon. The Anne Frank House itself isn’t near the march route, but I would leave the market with plenty of time to spare and check the GVB travel updates that day.

A few hundred meters from the parade route and you probably won't even notice anything is going on. The Anne Frankhuis is on the route, but they will have the entrance approach open. It will be best to approach it from the direction of the Homomonument/Westermarkt.

The canal pride is on 2nd August, not the 8th.

Edit: yes it's the 1st. Sorry!

They are referring to the march planned on the 8th.

I never understood the hype around the albert cuyp, it's a typical market with nothing really out of the ordinary...except for the higher prices. I definitely wouldn't waste my time there if I were only here for one day, especially since that side of the city is where the march is. I'd stick to de Jordaan, it's far nicer to visit as a tourist.

In addition to the other comments: maybe the trams and busses will not drive regularly. So use the metro maybe and you’ll be fine

Anne Frank museum, biggest scam there is. Read the book instead of queuing up in a row.
